No, I never posted any confirmantion. I said it was close, but not yet confirmed. So this is the first confirmation that I've read. Great to finally hear that its a go. I commend Sultan for taking this fight. GOOD man, that red headed Ibragimov boy. I never lost faith in him, as I knew he'd come through for us. (...........I did doubt he had the guts/confidence, to take the fight, but he proved he wrong, and I am glad to be proven wrong, cause this fight is so overdue and needed. Let it be the first of more to come. )
You'll talk til you are blue in the face trying to explain to Punisher33 about how this fight is so important. He just don't get it, cause he don't look any further than the here and now. He don't see the longterm benefit of this fight, but, to each his own. Great news. I am glad it is finally a done deal. :good
So that should mean that Wlad already won or that he needs to fight another titlist, whether he wins or loses?
agreed. I'm not sure what happened to Iggy. I thought he fought a smart tactical fight against Briggs, but I expected him to be more agressive against Holyfield. So which is the real Iggy? I don't know, but if the same guy from the last 2 fights shows up, then Wlad is giong to knock his block off. His only shot of competing with WK is to come out guns blazing.
Well Iggy is going to get beat down, and yes I will be watching the fight as much as it pains me to see Wlad fighting such a weak oppenent. I hope to god its just a little competitive, and not just a hide and seek fight for Wlad. I just have a feeling its going to be another boring fight until Wlad pours on the pressure in the middle rounds.:tired
I think we'll see Wlad stomp right through Ibragimov, as he did Austin, if not even faster. Ibrag has nothing to keep Wlad away, and he'll go right after him, I would say. But the only thing that keeps this fight from being a quick KO, is if Ibrag runs for 12 rounds, only occassionally trying to lunge in and out. That's what I think we'll see; Ibrag moving laterally and backward, almost constantly.
Good! But we'll have to wait for the full confirmation. :yep Wlad eliminates another pretender out of the picture. :hey
You can´t just give Wlad the fight already. Ibragimov is a top 10 heavyweight at least and has a hard punch. He is not to be taken lightly, even if Wlad is a heavy favourite. Now this is a good fight any way you twist it. A one sided beating or KO victory for Wlad would simply establish him as a dominant exciting champion, which is what is best for the division. This will also mean more pressure to the other champions to fight the winner and that there will be one less (soft?) champion to challenge. It´s kind of a shame that the winner will have to be tied up fighting Tony Thompson and Chambers/Povetkin winner though.
Thompson and Povetkin will both be good challengers. I could see either beating Ibragimov. It's a shame that Wlad doesn't have a better fighter against whom to unify, but Chagaev ain't so special, and the WBC is a mess. Starting against Ibragimov is all we can ask for his next fight. After that... then maybe the WBA and WBC can get in the picture. What would be excellent, is if Thompson and Povetkin could face off so there was only one mandatory to deal with in the meantime, but I can't see the ratings organisations agreeing to such a loss of their power.
I agree. After one fighter has two titles, the remaining two titleholders, who each have only one title, will seem very insignificant (even more than usual) in comparison. The second unification fight will be what everyone will be wanting to see, and pressing for. :good
great news. Ibragimov knocks him out in round 1 with a long left hand, Klitscko is down 3 times and the ref waves it off.
Exactly - It'll change the landscape to one in which better fights can be made because there will be a clear objective. Props to Iggy for facilitating this, and no doubt he'll get a very nice payday for his efforts win, lose or draw. Even if he doesn't win a good showing and some unexpected qualities he may exhibit could rise his stocks anyway.
Ibragimov vs Klitschko. A man against a robot. Sultan will make a Klitschko look like a clown, force him miss wildly, send him on all fours repeatedly (remember Sanders?) and then he'll KTFO Wlad out of the ring.
