Ok whats the progress with all this? Did Klitschko win his mayoral race?? I remember seeing a story on a certain fight site where it says the votes were being counted but Klitschko was in third at that point and final results would not be known for several days...never heard anything after that.

And wasnt the planned date for the Klitschko Peter fight sometime in August? Is this thing ever going to come off??

lastly I dont think the emeritus champ thing is a bad idea but there should be LIMITATIONS. For example grant it to someone but put a three year limit on it. The fighter has three years to come back and arrange a fight and fight....if this cannot be pulled off this opportunity is gone. This everlasting emeritus title for Klitschko is just crazy. It allows the opportunity for someone to come back a decade (or longer) after it was granted.....

Vitali lost the major race, but he was not in it to win with realistic expectations. He was in the race to talk about the issues the incumbent would not.

Rumor has it Vitlai is in live sparring sessions in the gym that resemble real fights a heck of a lot more than sparring sessions.

The Peter vs Vitlai fight has a signed contract.

In most cases, the person who retired does not do so as champion. Though Vitlai has been out of action since December 2004, he could probably roll out of bed and beat a top ten contender.

Vitlai vs Peter will be a very interesting fight. Peter is #2 in the world and in his prime. Vitlai is will be 37 and coming off a long layoff. Only the legendary fighters can come back after age 37+ after a long lay off and win a title. As far as I know no man in the history of the ring has been that old ( 37+ ) , and won the title back after a long layoff in his first fight.

The fight is planned for October, last I read.

Vitali is 36, but will be 37 in July, so he will be 37 when he beats PEter like a rented mule................cold and coming off of three surgeries..

Vitali's confidence must be very strong, still, cause he will take Peter on, without any tuneups, and after an almost four year layoff at which time he's been on three surgery tables?

Vitali is either supremely confident in himself, or thinks very little of Peter, or both.

I see another Danny Williams style beating that absolutley ruins Peter's clout in the division as a top fighter. Vitali will RUIN Peter's badass/KO machine aura in about 6 rounds.

Vitali is a knockout waiting to happen, the guy hasnt seen action since December of 04, which means by fight time he would of been closer to 4 years without seeing live action. Sam Peter will knock the rust of Vitali's chin early and often, Vitali's reflexes will not be good at all, as well as his timing, something that goes with age and inactivity.

All in all I see this fight being a slugfest from the onslaught, with both men landing and hurting one another, but by the 6 round will see Samuels punches starting to take a toll on the 10 years older and less active Vitali, 6 round TKO, but it will be one hell of a heavyweight duel up to that point.

If Vitaly does make it to the fight, you'll be in for a rude awakening. Only training camp can KO Vitaly, not the plodding Peter.

Not true, Travis Walker laid him out in sparring, it just so happens he messed up his knee on the way down to the canvas. Peter has extremely heavy hands, as Emanuel Steward put it, he has heavier hands than even Wlad. So if Vitali thinks he can go punch for punch with Peter, he's dead wrong, especially someones that has inacitve for 4 years.

According to one trainer who supposedly saw that and then mentioned on a site similar to this one. I am sure there were other people watching Klitschko spar there but no one else confirmed that claim....

He was knocked down by two oppenents in that camp, I cant remember the other guys name though, but he floored Vitali from a body shot. The Travis Walker knockdown definitely happend, the knockdown itself buckled Vitali's leg, injuring it and giving him no chance but to cancel out on Rahman again for the final time in November of 05, theres a good little article on it on the HBO website itself.

That is a Steward sell job. No one in their right mind believes Peter has heavier hands than Wlad. Maybe Shufford...wait, nevermind.

It would be one thing if Wlad was suppose to fight Peter in the near future, but thats doubtful, seeing that both men have plenty of fights to keep them busy for the rest of 08, so theres really nothing to hype. I think Peters and Wlads power is comparable, Wlad can deliver his punches alot better, while Peter probably has the heavier hands and more raw power.

Where is this evidenced at? By the Zuri Lawrence KO? Peter has knocked out one legit fighter...Maskaev. Wlad has ko'd numerous. There is no comparison. It is not even close.

Right. Steward was merely hyping the opponent and the fight.

Let's compare a common opponent, shall we?

Look at what Wlad did to McCline, and then compare that to what Peter did to McCline. ( or make that, what McCline did to Peter)

Wlad dropped McCline with one right hand............THUD. Then knocked him down, again, and McCline eventually quit.............Peter never took McCLine off his feet, but rather, was bounced around the canvas, repeatedly, himself.

Peter's power is not what it was once thought to be, no. It is good power, and above average, I woudl say, but Peter is no where near the powerhouse KO machine he was once made out to be. And he proves that in virtually every heavyweight fight he's been in on the top level.

Wladimir Klitschko, has power that proves itself in almost every fight he's in. The opponents are either KOed, or TKO'd one after another........ The Ibragimov fight being the rare exception.

Watch the McCline/Wlad fight in 02, McCline was so timid and scared he pretty much was a sitting target, besides the knockout was late in the fight and by that time McCline was more tired than he was hurt from Wlads punches. You must remember Wlad was looked at as the next big thing at the time, where his weak chin wasnt even concern, until it was exposed the following year by Corrie Sanders.

Peters power is there, but his delivery isnt. The man has extremely heavy hands, but at times finds himself getting over excitied once he has his man hurt and tries landing anything, instead of setting him up for that big bomb. Dont worry Heavy, Peter's only 27 and has a long way to go, we all remember what was happening to Wlad at that age, lol.
