Not the best fight imaginable. Hopefully Wlad and Povetkin gets it on afterwards. One of the camps will probably have to forfeit their TV-rights.

Sounds logic... so again there are not many possible fights for Wladimir wich are a lot better than Pianeta! Because it is just a stay busy fight nothing more!

Fair points all, BUT as fans we should not be making excuses for champions not fighting the best competition. Instead of accepting lame match-making dictated by greed and/or safety-first mentality, we should lobby boxing organizations to organize the sport so that the best fight the best. It's absurd for fans to be making excuses for K2 when they offer less than 5% of the purse to their presumptive opponents. Not to mention the voluntary contracts, where K2 get 2 rematches and rights on future fights should K2 lose.

Wlad has not fought a major contender since July 2011 (with the possible exception of TT). I realize it must be annoying for K2 to give millions to Sauerland or DK in order to face one of their (sometimes over-rated) heavyweights. But they should be prepared to give up 25% of the purse to get a challenge the fans can get excited about.

What are you talking?????? Jennings is good but Pianeta not? You are such a morron! Why is Jennings better than Pianeta? At least Pianeta was european champion before his diseas startet!
So you showed that you dont even know Pianeta! Then why are you talking crap about him?

Problem is most of the Contenders dont deserve more than 10% For example if Klitschko would fight Jennings (wich he likly would do in germany) nobody knows him here! All people just come because of Klitschko! All the money is made because of the name Klitschko! So they can be happy because they make more money than in theire last fights.
It is just the truth! Klitschkos are a monopol here! And they try to make the most of it wich everybody would do and wich is just logical! If you want more money you have to get mandatory.
Klitschko is the super champion! And it is normal that the super champion gets for example a break for mandatory fights!
After Thompson they said that Klitschko dont has to fight a mandatory for two year! If he fights Povetkin this tune up fight will be alright for me because as I said there are not many boxers who want to fight the Klitschkos.

    pianta

no real power, can get hit easily, slow footed, doesnt throw combinations,
some of his videos doesn't seem motivated

    he UD against botha

    drew against Albert Sosnowski

    UD against old MCALL

I notice he doesnt keep his hands up can be lazy, he can get away with smaller fighters, but being flat footed, and not defending properly at times can be costly against Wlads fast jabs and right hand.

Ive just got a bad feeling, this is Wlad trying to prolong the Povetkin fight and try not make it happen, like Povetkin did against Wlad couple of years ago.

Boxing is corrupt because of the corrupting influence of money. That's fact.

Think about it. Is there anything more annoying than Haye fans who insist that Vitali must fight Haye next at 50/50 cause Haye is such a big money maker etc :barf This is the nonsense that killz boxing.

While K2 deserve all the respect in the world, if they want to be greedy and sit on their titles then **** them. Fans should help lobby to form a boxing organization that will make them fight the best.

Also there are not many contenders who demanding a fight! Almost every contender is afraid to step up! They fighting only journeyman after journeyman! If the contenders would fight more often against each other we would have better fights! But in this state it doesnt matter wich opponent Wladimir fights in a stay busy fight! Pianeta, Jennings, Scott, or who ever are pretty on the same level! Nobody of them could win against Klitschko and nobody of them could be considered as competetiv because nobody of them fought serious competition for a long time.

WHo are the best and do they want to fight in a voluntary fight?
There are really not many who want to do so! Maybe it is not enough money for them... but hey! If you get a chance for such a big fight then you have to take it! Also every Klitschko opponent makes more money than in his last fights together!

Which is precisely why he deserves to be criticized for his choice.

Yes, Povetkin, Pulev, Helenius, Fury, and Solis would all get in the ring for the right terms. That is, roughly, a 500K to 2 mil payday and no rematch clauses.

But K2 won't do it because they don't have to. That's perfectly rational behavior on their part. But fans sure as hell shouldn't be making excuses for it. Instead, fans should lobby for a title organization that will ensure that champs fight at least 2 good matches a year.

I know German boxing shows are very cheesy and naff as they cater for morons who have no idea about the sport as a whole.

I think it would be taking it a little to far to have James Wade playing darts on the undercard but I doubt the braindead cretins who turn up to watch Klitschko fights in Germany would even notice.

They need more lazers and 80s rock bands as Shaunster rightly pointed out earlier.
