I like both K-Bros. Both guys train hard, always show up in shape, and fight very well. They are good examples of how to win a fight beyond the "go out and knock the crap out of the guy" mentality which became dominant in the Tyson era. I think much of the hate towards them is basic reverse discrimination. Not just because they are white, but because they are Eastern European. For too many years, American boxers dominated and claimed "World Championships" without ever facing the "world". The only time they did was in the Olympic games and the typical results were loses to Soviet Block fighters. Yet over and over again Americans claimed superiority in the sport. When the iron curtain fell and these guys emerged, it caught America, Black America, and the rest of the world by complete surprise. But those trainers who were in the game knew what was coming. They knew about these fighters from the East and they knew just how good they were. Notice, that for the exception of Teddy Atlas, the older American Boxing Trainers have nothing but the utmost respect for Soviet trained fighters.
i dont get the whole vitali thing he gained respect in america for lewis then fought johnson sanders and williams all in the us and was the crowd favorite then ever since his comeback america turned their back on him and his 4 yr layoff win over peter was amazing and his fight with arreola was exciting i dont get why anybody says vitali is boring high out put goes for the kill hits hard
Ali disproves most of your post... Again, Wlad was hyped big time by hbo and most American media before he started getting ko'd...As an American, I know plenty who were all over that bandwagon before it crashed, myself included...If anything, American media has been accused of hyping white guys, 'the great white hype'... Vitali too, he was growing quite popular before he retired, and I'm not arguing its necesity...Four years later, he started his comeback by getting into a pissing contest with hbo, not a smart move if you want the market, regardless of who started it... The biggest issue, and I'm yet to here an answer, is the talent pool when there is more than one champion...Of course the talent pool sucks when another guy is taking half of it... 'It's America's fault' is just a frightfully stupid excuse...
