they are estimating 80k tickets to be sold. That is a huge number whatever the circumstances.

Haye-Klitchsko was a bigger event despite the poor spectacle it was.

You are obviously trying to convince yourself as you obviously can't convince anyone else. The fight is happening, VIP tickets are already in sale. This was the biggest purse bid in a decade and obviously this fight is bigger than Wlad-Haye. Wladimir is obviously a favorite but Povetkin isn't without a hope as he is #3 heavyweight in the world.

I think the fight itself will be a letdown, with Povetkin with pumelled, very similar to the way Chagaev was. Povetkin doesn't have the tool to trouble Wlad

What did Bunte do? Quoting Andrej Ryabinsky: “We would like to thank our German partners for their cooperation and joint efforts. "

Read: Without Bonte this wouldn't be possible. Bunte once again presents a huge HW fight that will make history. He's a lock for being inducted into the HOF as a legendary promoter.

In that case Adam Booth can be credited for delivering the show in Hamburg back in 2011.

What does the size of Russia have to do with anything? Doesn't matter how big the country is, only so many people can fit into a stadium, not the whole country.

For the live gate to cover the cost of the bid alone it will have to break the record for biggest live gate ever by quite some margin, which quite frankly I don't see happening.

If the fight was so big, why did K2 only bid $7.1 million, why did Povetkin's own promoter only bid $6 million?

Not terribly excited for this one. Haye-Wlad had more buildup, this one meh. Pov didn't look too good vs Chambers and Huck.

TV viewings in Russia and Germany alone will be huge. What was the biggest live gate ever? Dempsey against Tunney? Tickets for that fight cost about a dollar. Ive heard ring side seats are going for 6 thou.

I believe the biggest live gate in terms of cash was Mayweather Vs De La Hoya at around $19 million. Fact is big stadiums never make the biggest sums of money it's usually the casino venues that pay the most and will bring in the high rollers who will pay thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars for ring side seats. I've seen floor seats for Mayweather/Canelo going for $34,000 USD from a reputable vendor in Las Vegas.

The TV money in Russia and Germany won't compare to the UK and US PPV markets. Wlad's TV contract pays him a pittance which is why he needed Haye and the UK PPV market to make his biggest purse prior to this fight with Povetkin.

This is a big fight but only a big fight in a small market. I still don't understand how the promoter isn't going to make a loss when you consider he paid more than 3 times what K2 offered. Why would the promoters of the fighters value this fight so low if the fight is so big?

There will be hoards of Russian playboys buying up those tickets vip tickets and maybe they cost a lot more than 6 thou, im not certain of the details. The spectacle planned and celeb guests will attract even non fans and HBO picking up the rights will add more revenue...The thing that will hurt them is not having any PPV market.

:think It actually is the biggest fight in a while. It still doesn't mean the second part of your post isn't true. :patsch

I was thinking about that a few weeks ago while ES...Boxing 24 was debating over contract disputes, what the hell has Povetkin done to be one half of a megafight? This is pretty much a standard title shot if you ask me. This is a guy that Wlad should be fighting. Only because he fought a guy that can't even punch and old dudes is why Povetkin is looking good right about now. I'm sure KD and hot dogs will look pretty damn good if all you ate was dried toast for a few years.
