Klitschko-Povetkin Purse Bid: Sides Ready To Battle

    K2 Promotions, of Ukrainian-born, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, of Kiev, and, Sauerland Promotions, of Russian challenger, Alexander Povetkin, will hold a purse bid for a bout between the two fighters on Tuesday, according to Emanuel Steward, Klitschko's trainer. If k-2 Promotions wins the bid, sponsored by the IBF,The fight will be in Germany,perhaps in Frankfurt said Steward. In the event sauerland Promotions wins, the two warriors will clash likely in Moscow,Steward said....Win or lose, Steward said that Klitshko would get the lion share of a 75/25 split of the purse:

    That can't be right. A number 1 contender gets a better split automatically, from what i understand.

    10.E. Disbursement of Bid Proceeds​

    The Champion will receive 75% and the Challenger will
    receive 25% of total amount of the bid. If the offer is for
    a vacant title, each boxer will receive 50% of the total
    amount bid. The percentage splits for elimination bouts and
    box offs are governed by Rule 9D. In a bout between a
    Champion and a Challenger ranked #3 or below, the Champion
    shall receive 85% and the Challenger will receive 15% of the​
    total amount of the bid.

    Ripped off? The guy has been sitting on his title shot for 2+ years, he should have lost his place in line by now. He's lucky he gets what he gets. Even at 15%, it'll surely be his biggest payday.

    The beating is inevitable.

    Well, it would appear that this should be an easy purse bid win for Wladimir.

    He gets 75%, and he owns part of K2 Promotions, who is bidding. So they should be able to bid well above anything Sauerland can offer.

    I sure hope so anyway, they don't want the fight in Russia . . .

    Povetkin will get knocked out no matter where the fight is, but better money in Germany.
