A great victory over the most dangerous opponent in the division.

Yes he should have been DQed. It was an absolutely garbage perfomance and Wlad proved he was a total shithouse. Glad Fury and AJ beat him so that we finally got rid of him.

    Nah...Tyson with Botha did worse,
there was little lack of breaking his arm with a clinch

Then referees need to be held to higher standards and sanctioned monetarily for when they mess up.

The thing almost nobody ever mentions is that he was a very offensive fighter until the American influence made him defensive, and added the jab 'n grab.
Sad is, that defensive spoiling style and variations have been very effective for half a decade now, and most American referees don't act against the house style.

That fight was an atrocity. He should have lost multiple points then DQ'd if he kept doing it.

I think you are missing the point. What you are saying is basically, "well no Wlad shouldn't have been DQ'd because the ref didn't do it". Well, obviously. You can apply that line of thinking to any situation in life, "no he didn't warrant X punishment because he only did as much as he could get away with".

With a proper ref does he deserve a DQ if he did all that holding? That's really the question. If your answer is, well he would have stopped holding if the ref was stricter, then the insanely excessive holding would have never happened and he would have had to fight more normally but that's not what occurred.

Lol at wlad fans saying the referee needs to be blamed. But not holding wlad responible.
These are the same guys who get mad when floyd , lawrence okolie and other fighters hold and hold them accountable. But here they hold the ref accountable not klitschko

Of course Wlad was at fault, check the RbR of that fight to see everyone's reaction, Wlad fans or not.
But, it's up to the referee to do something about it, and he has to take the steps to prevent the fight from getting out of hand, and they are just as much the blame because a lot of fighters do everything they can get away with. Ward vs Green, Kessler and Kovalev, Okolie vs Chamberlain and Askin, Ali vs whoever since the early 70's, Ruiz vs whoever since being iced by Tua... In all cases the referee was as much at fault as the boxer, by allowing it to happen. If they started warning and deducting points early on, these fights wouldn't have been stinkers due to either the boxer stopping or being DQ'd. it's that simple.

Then those same fans need to critique the ref more when fighters they dont like are holding as well.

There was nothing wrong with officiating in this fight. The better fighter, man and human being clearly won, simple as that.
You are a sad, bitter man, blatantly.

Of course Wlad is responsible. He was much more fun to watch when he was trying to destroy guys instead of hugging them. But a fighter will bend the rules as far as you let him. He should have been warned after the 3-4th time and then gotten a point deducted early. That would have put a stop to it.
