I've missed Lawrence Clay-Bey, an enigmatic, unfulfilled contender. The more I read about him, the more I warm to him.

Click here for some words on his career and a video of his Olympic 96 clash with Wladimir Klitschko in which there is sufficient evidence that the burly American could have caused WK problems...his problem, as always was stamina and focus.

He was one of Lewis and Manny's favourite sparring partners. A very friendly guy with good skills and good humour.

Had an underrated gem with Etienne too, think it was on the Lewis-Tua undercard.

He certainly seems, from further investigation to have been a genial type. He unquestionably had natural talent to go from novice to the Olympics between the ages of 27-30 is staggering. I know his father was a former fighter but still......an incredible achievement.
