1. white, yellow and red boxing rings...very startling...you'd nearly need sunglasses to watch the fight.. 2. the commentator...not woodhall...other guy...worst i have ever heard...knows absolutely nothing about boxing...kept mixing their names up, kept calling hooks 'jabs' and vice versa...terrible... 3. corner inspector look like john l sullivan 4. one of klit's team looked like joe louis.. 5. david haye would put up a much much better fight than rahman {who is obviously finished}...and it may only be a small chance, but i think he has a chance... 6. very little atmosphere for a world heavyweight title fight.. thats it...doug out. .
1. Good performance from Wlad 2. Please....please throw a body shot, an uppercut, something. 3. Rahman was pathetic, and in awful shape. Not much he could have done even if he was.
Wlad could out-jab Stretch Armstrong. His jab is beastly. A few of them landing on your noggin and it's no surprise that you quickly lose interest. That being said Rahman was poor. The American heavy weight scene is totally moribund.
Why is it so much effort to watch a fight broadcasted in Germany? They should be banned, the crowd is robotic and the atmosphere is ****.
Excellent disection by Klitschko. Personally i thought he fought good, breaking down Rahman with the jab and the finish was good. Overall a B+
Considering Zuri Lawrence and Taurus Sykes have managed to render Rahman impotent for several rounds themselves, I know what the most likely explanation is. Wlad was efficient. I expected TKO5, he got TKO7 so it was mission complete. His lack of any body attack was puzzling but he couldn't miss with the left anyway so it got the job done. The two things I'm most disappointed with is firstly that the crowd was very flat. I've seen German crowds rabid for a Klitschko's every move before, this lot seemed to sit on their hands for all but the big shots. The second is that, above and beyond whoever wins the fight, the thing I want most as a long time fan of the heavyweight division is an exciting fight. That is after all what draws fans to it. Rahman was incapable of providing that, and Wlad dissected him. Not that I had such lofty hopes for this fight in the first place though. Rahman was a perfecly sensible opponent to pick given the short-term circumstances and Wlad did what he needed to do to win. But in general, it's game efforts from both fighters that this division needs.
No he wasn't that good. If he'd gone for it he could've finished it in two rounds but he's far too safe. He had Rahman on the ropes for ages and the rock was practically asking to be knocked out, but Wlad stayed back. He has a brilliant one two and a good left hook, but nothing else. If a half decent heavy comes out and dives at him, I think he would struggle.
Setantas coverage was more live than the live coverage on RTL. RTL were running a good 5 seconds behind Setanta. On RTL they had David HAye on wearing his dodgy cowboy hat with Vitali standing next to him. They dubbed everything into german so could not get the gist of what they were saying but Vitali looked ready for business and you could see the intent in his eyes.
I emjoyed the fight. Wlad is so dominant in there but jeez Rahman was bad. I am really glad Haye did not fight him like some were calling for.
