Klitschko vs. Adamek: Tomasz’s only hope is to just try and survive!

By Dan Ambrose: It’s sad when you get a horrible mismatch like Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) vs. WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) where one fighter, Adamek, basically no chance at all to win the fight and merely coming into the bout to get destroyed or totally dominated in defeat. That’s how this one is going to play out. Adamek and Klitschko will meet on September 10th at the Stadion Miekski in Wroclaw, Poland. Adamek will have a huge Polish fan base at the fight cheering everything he does, but it won’t matter. He’s not going to win and the only thing he can really decide is his how he’ll lose.

Adamek can go out bravely by going straight after Vitali in the early rounds, and get mowed down or he can run and maybe survive to lose by a humiliating lopsided 12 round decision. Both outcomes are bad, but he has few options. Adamek doesn’t have the size, power, speed or chin to win this fight by actually fighting Vitali. He’s not going to be able to go at him and trade and come out on top.

We saw recently in Adamek’s carefully managed fights against C level fighters 38-year-old Michael Grant and 37-year-old Kevin McBride, that Adamek can’t even trade with weaker fighters without dashing away to try and survive. Now Adamek is jumping up two levels in facing an A+ Vitali Klitschko, and it’s academic that Adamek is going to lose this fight. He can survive, but only by running and embarrassing himself by fighting in a David Haye-esque manner.

If I was Adamek’s trainer, I would just have him go right after Vitali and hope for the best. Adamek can’t out-box Vitali and he’s not going to knock him out. But at least if he goes after Vitali and fights him hard for a couple of rounds before getting totally destroyed, Adamek can win some respect from his fans and maybe around the world depending on how badly he gets knocked out.

Do you agree with that article, or do you think a featherfisted Natural Lightheavy, who fought 32 of his 45 fights at Lightheavy, & a further 7 at Cruiser, can defeat the currently seemingly invincible Dr. Ironfist Vitali? Remember how seriously Adamek strugged & was rocked a few times by Obese Arreola, struggled & was rocked by washed-up Old Grant, struggled with Fat Estrada & was dropped by Morbidly Obese, Old Shot Bummy McBride... Now recall how Vitali has utterly dominated every single opponent he has fought since begining his comeback in '08, usually beating the living crap out of them in the process. Within his comeback reign as the extremely dominant WBC Champion, VK has brutally beaten Peter & Gomez (Adamek would've lost to those versions which Vitali smashed) both inside the distance, & brutalised the same Arreola who gave Adamek hell. :deal

@RightCross: Are you refering to the domination of the Heavyweight Division by the Germany-Based Klitschko brothers?

Adamek is faster than Haye and Vitali is slower than Wladimir.
It will be a good fight and a hell of a lot more competitive the Wladimir vs Haye..

Adamek is not faster than Haye with handspeed or footspeed.

Really Adamek is barely faster than Vitali, & he has a lower workrate & much less power than Dr. Ironfist.

Well, the article is so biased that Adamek has no chance at all.

Which really isn't the case. Adamek does have a chance, no matter how small. He's gonna have a gameplan, & if its cobstructed correctly & Adamek executes, he just might make this a boxing match. He has to fight the smartest fight of his life. Avoid getting nailed with a big VK bomb & land burst's of combo's & get outta town on his bike. Constantly be on the move, giving him angles & try to make him miss & then make him pay.

Tomasz is a smart fighter. He'll need to muster up Enstein-like intelligence on Sept. 10th.

Boxing is not all POWER. Gene Tunney was one of the best HW's ever & that man was an intellectual in the ring.

Adamake has a chance. Thats all I'm saying...:!:

All i'm saying, is despite being old at age 40, the only man in the whole division who can beat Vitali right now is younger brother Wlad. :deal

Bubby, your'e usually spot on, but Adamek is in no way shape or form faster than Haye.

Also, Adamek has way too much heart to make this fight competitive. He'll trade with Vitali and be KTFO, whereas Haye at least had a chance to sprint for the distance.

Adamek is a shocking heavyweight. Good fighter he was at LHW and CW imo.

Indeed, Adamek will get battered & go down on his shield like a warrior.

I didn't quote your whole post because the top portion was true. But Adamek is NOT really a smart HW. He readily trades with bigger guys, and has paid for it. Yes, he's beaten Grant, Arreola, and McBride to the punch. He was supposed to do that with his superior speed, but he stays inside too long and gets caught like he aint supposed to do.

I love Adamek, TONS AND TONS of heart and grit, but he should be down at 200 making Tarver, Cunningham, Huck and rest eat his fists, not up at HW almost getting KTFO by the likes of Grant and McBride.

Had Grant fought from the opening bell, we wouldn't be seeing anymore of Tomazs at HW, and Grant would already have been KOd by a Brother.

I agree. I usually agree with Bubby, but Adamek is not faster than Haye.
Adamek definitely has more heart, and will come to fight, but speed wise, no. Not faster than Haye.
