I'm a really big Wlad fan but I can't stand this. What a horrible, horrible match-up. There's talk that it's to lure Haye into a fight. That would work if ANYONE in Britain knew about Chisora but they don't. He doesn't have any mainstream publicity. The argument for it, is that there aren't other options. Sure, a lot of these are **** too, but there are many better options. Chagaev would be better and would probably try again. Thompson, as dire as he is, would be better and would happily get his arse kicked for big money again. How about Arreola? He's more deserving than Chisora and would jump at the chance, especially as he has more chance against Wlad than Vitali. Dimitrenko is dire but better than Chisora. I don't know whether Boytsov would take it, but he's much better. Everyone is ducking Solis, so surely he'd fight Klitschko? How about Helenius? The Italian Pianeta? Even Tua is better and because of his tax problems, he'd love the fight to happen, I'm sure. And anyone who says "Well Ali and Louis fought a few bums too!" is an idiotic ****. Wlad has been one of my top 3 fighters for years now but this fight is completely inexcusable. It's impossible to justify. And nice contract too! If Chisora does actually win, he has to fight Vitali. What a load of ****ing ****.
Arreola? Again, I wish people did better research before going on moronic rants and making total asses out of themselves. Just as dumb as the people crying "what about Valuev?" who is out with a career threatening injury. ARREOLA IS CURRENTLY OUT AFTER HE INJURED BOTH HIS HANDS IN HIS LAST FIGHT!!! He won't even be able to use his hand until the end of the year, let alone train for a fight. According to promoter Dan Goossen, Arreola fractured his left hand during the second round and will be unable to use it for four to six weeks, although he continued to throw it during the fight. He is scheduled to be fitted for a cast on Thursday. Arreola thought he broke his right hand in the ninth round but was informed by Dr. Theodore Gregorius that he actually tore a tendon, a more serious injury than a fracture. Arreola will need surgery on the right hand and won't be able to use it for 10 to 12 weeks. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5476235
While David Haye has kinda lost me as a fan, the fact that Wlad is making Chisora (a green fighter with no major wins) sign a contract where if he wins he has to fight his brother too makes me think maybe David was right about the ridiculous contract negotiations with them.
I'll definitely watch the fight because I'm a fan of Wladimirs. Granted Chisora isn't the most desirable opponent, the fight does seems destined to end in a vicious knockout.
Push the fight back a few weeks and Arreola could fight, could he not? And he could train now with certain aspects, such as cardio. Don't act like it's an impossible fight, for ****s sake.
Agreed. These contracts are wrong - Simple as. Nobody can defend this ****. If Chisora did win, fine, let him and Vitali negotiate a fight but why should he have to immediately fight Vitali? Especially considering he will then have no financial leverage, so if he does win, he's tied down to another fight or maybe two, where he makes nothing like the amount of money he should be getting. Briggs, Haye, Valuev and more fighters have rightly called the Klitschko's out because of these contracts. They're bull****.
Maybe he'll try more but if he does try harder, the fight won't go beyond three rounds. The only reason this fight will last, is if Klitschko is too patient. Peter stayed in there because he's tough. Chisora will not be able to.
I have faith that Chisora will last at least 10 rounds. And will hit Wlad more frequently that chambers/peter did, Wlad will turn this into his "jab paw jab maybe throw right hand" fight. Carrying Chisora, until he lands that big right hand in round 10
