David Haye is a damn good puncher, period. Monte Barrett is a tough *******, and every time Haye touched him he was hurt. That fight made me a believer that he could punch at HW.
- You prove my point a little bit. - Ruiz is known for his tough chin, but Wladimir' beard is universally questioned - Haye is a good finisher - if he catches Wladimir on wobbly legs - Haye ensures he doesn't let his adversary back into the fight. - This maybe very hard for Wladimir fans to accept, but I just cannot see how he lands anything serious on David Haye - but I just see Wladimir getting bamboozled and overwhelmed with heavy artillery from Haye. :tired
If Haye fights Wlad it won't be his power that will be the deciding factor in who wins, it will be his defense. Haye won't hurt Wlad without getting hurt himself in the process, he comes in with his hands low and his chin (which is weaker than Wlad's by a good margin) exposed, this will spell disaster for him against a puncher like Wlad. If Haye comes in all guns blazing he will be met with shots he won't be able to take. Does anyone really see him trying to blow away Wlad in a few rounds anyway? For all his talk Haye can be a very cautious fighter, this is what a lot of people don't seem to realise. Look at how reluctant he was to engage with Valuev and Harrison for 2 out of 3 rounds.
Agreed. Wlad still looks rattled tho when hit and under pressure. He looked rattled when Tony Thomson landed probably his only half decent punch of the fight early on (I think it was a left to the body). Wlad retreated in a hurry, and (from what I've seen) doesn't seem to fight at all going backwards. Vitali however starts fighting back when hit, Wlad doesn't. Makes a huge difference for Haye IMO. Makes more sense than thinking Haye is going to KO or outpoint Vitali tho. Unless Vitali has really, really declined, I can't see that happening. If Haye knocks Wlad down, unless it's a flash, off balance KD, Wlad's in trouble IMO. Haye goes after guys, and throws all pretence of technique and boxing out of the window, and just tries to stop in there and then. He's not a lumbering oaf like Peter. If Wlad gets hurt, Haye will keep him that way. I know Wlads improved, but against Sanders he was running across the ring, with his back turned, away from Sanders. That's instinct, and that's very hard to train out. I don't think Haye wins either fight. But I think if Wlad can't "jab and grab", he's out of his comfort zone, and anything could happen. vitaly seems a bit more capable of adapting IMO.
Big deal. He hit Valuev in the face and Nicolai was stunned for one second. This punch has been greatly exaggerated by Haye fans. You would think Valuev was knocked out cold and sent over the top rope into the front row. Hardly :-( If anything Valuev proved he can easily go the distance with Haye. If Valuev can go the distance imagine Haye up against the much more skilled Klit Bros. atsch Either Klit destroys Haye IMO
Chambers and Peter are far more credible opponents than that version or any version of John Ruiz. atsch
