Who are the Ring magazine to decide that Wladimir is the lineal champ it's not their call and never will be, there's only one fight out there to make it happen and that's against Stiverne, I've always been critical of both Klitschkos (good lads but fan base something else) however I think Wladimir deserves to fight for the undisputed title and finally put a rubber stamp on this lineal issue and yes we can go through the history books with Gene Tunney etc but the last undisputed champ was Lennox Lewis and is still classed as lineal so as a boxing fan I hope this fight can be made and it should be made !
Wlad is already universally recognized as lineal HW champ. He is lineal champ since beating Potevkin. Stiverne has NOTHING to do with lineal championship.
wlad is already lineal from age of 37. he is one who took the longest to achieve the feat. just disputed. lewis did it 14 years younger, in fact lewis had grown bored of benig lineal by 37. wlad is 14 years behind lennox.
Most people did already recognize Wlad as lineal since the Chagaev fight, but after Povetkin there was no way around it at all anymore. Stiverne is just a beltholder and nothing more
Tyson even managed to be 'undisputed' for a while without being the lineal champ. Just to show how weird, arbitrary and subjective it all has become since we had more as one belt.
Wlad is THE Heavyweight champion of the world. Undisputed. The WBC can do whatever they want. They can have 5 heavyweight champions if they choose, but the WBC heavyweight title is like the WBU title at that weight.
I think some of you have got the wrong end of the stick with this one im not anti-Wlad on this, Klitschko is not universally recognised as lineal or undisputed (yes it's subjective) however he is recognised as the best heavyweight without question it's a no brainer but as it stands we have an opportunity for an official undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and we haven't had one since Lennox Lewis and to me that's a no brainer too !
The wbc HW belt is a lesser belt atm. Undisputed just means there is no public dispute as to who is the best, and most accomplished. Wlad obviously does not need to fight anyone to be undisputed. It's the other way round. There was dispute when Vitali was champ, but that immediately disappeared once he retired. The wbc belt is a 3rd or 4rth place award right now, lol.
