honestly i think he's sayin this cause he wants to be co-featured on the vitali-peter fight in oct. hopefully wlad fights soon and not in feb of 09 or somethin like that

Wlad is a very good technical fighter, unfortunately he isn't that entertaining sometimes, i wish he was but he often just does enough..

End of November? that means that the fight between Povetkin and Wlad has to happen till there or Wlad can fight somebody else as long as he puts the IBF belt at stake?

It doesn't look like Wlad has a diferent alternative to Povetkin right now. Despite his big mouth, I don't think Haye would really welcome a fight with Wlad now, unless he is offered a huge purse, which is unlikely.

The WBC belt is locked till october 11th with Peter-Vitali, the WBA is locked till the 30th of august with Valuev-Ruiz. The best chance would be waiting for the WBA belt fight to happen but I feel the IBF will call up a purse bid for his defense against Povetkin before that.

The best course for Wlad is fighting Povetkin early in November and try to get lucky and land an unification fight early in 2009 with Valuev. After Valuev beats Ruiz he will look to make a voluntary defense of the belt, before he has to fight Chagaev in 2009 and may very well opt for the biggest payday of his career since age is catching up with him.

I don't think Wlad wants to put himself in a no-win situation. He would gain absolutely nothing by fighting Haye at this point.

 

I don´t think the Povetkin fight will fall through. It´ll just go to purse bids. Still, I´d love for Wlad to face Valuev. It would be worth dropping the IBF belt over. Wlad could then make more money fighting Povetkin if Povetkin was IBF champ.

Good point. I wonder what Valuev's been fighting for pursewise lately...I know fighting Wlad would easily be a career high purse for him, though.
