Too funny. I'm sorry you put so much work into this. But you're ignoring the fact that Wlad is shot to ****, and Anthony Joshua is a complete ham and egger. Plus Ali and Foreman would have destroyed both of them. Other than that, good read.

I repeat: It depends on what AJ GOES ON TO DO. At the moment, you're right, it's nowhere near Ali/Foreman. But if Joshua dominates the next 6 years, it's another story.

 

B, there is no hindsight. People didn't say this when Ali/Foreman fought. Many people are giving Wlad a 50/50 chance to win. Hardly anyone picked Ali to win.

 

Not even Foreman Moorer.

 

Some people are making it 50-50 but the bookmakers have Joshua @ 1/3 on.

 

Odds always change and it's only because Wlad is old. The fight is more closer to Moorer and Foreman. No lineal title is on the line. It's just another great fight.

"Legitimate hw title" is semantics. It was for a lineal title that no longer exists. Wlad AJ arguably features the best two active hws in the division, it's a real championship. Honestly, Foreman Moorer, as great a fight as it was, was much more fluky, neither one was really one of the top two hw's in the division at the time.

Ali Foreman is a bridge too far for this fight, but Foreman Moorer isn't.

 

The moment is just as big because it asks the same questions. Will youth and power prevail over age and experience. Does the old warrior have one more left or will the young warrior ascend to the seat of power. Different players but the same question. My question is this, can Wlad take the punishment that Ali and Foreman had to endure in their respective fights. I think not. He has to truly outbox or knock Joshua out relatively early. If Wlad wins, it won't be with the flair of Ali or grit of Foreman. It will be somewhere in the middle but just as dramatic. If the moment wasn't as big then 90,000 people wouldn't crowding into Wembly and HBO and Showtime wouldn't be bothered.

 

I cant think of too many upsets bigger than Ali vs Foreman.

Foreman vs Moorer was an upset but has a few things going against it. Moorer's durability was already questionable and he had no shot of stopping Foreman. And Moorer just wasnt that well regarded, even as undeafeted Champion.

Moorer was seen as a blown up light heavy of questionable durability who not only lucked out on Evanders injury/heart issues but further controversy when a judge admitted to a scoring error. Nobody was expecting a dominant long reign.
