Man there are so many contenders (I am not even talking champs) from 60-90s that I would pick over the bros. personally I really do not care enough about the heavyweight division the are all a bunch of talentless, skill less bums. the Kbros are B fighters ruling over a D Division.
I would favor Ali, Liston, & Foreman..and yes, I would put frazier in there as well! so there are another 4 names. Wlad would probably beat Lyle, Norton, Quarry, Machen, Young, Patterson...Cleveland Williams would be a fun fight...but if they were not sharp those names could go alongside of brewster, puritty etc.
I agree with you that they would be taking naps. Ali could have taken them but it sure as hell wouldn't be like people on here make it seem like Ali would take them with one hand. It would be a goo fight and one which Wladimirs size might take over and win him a decision. Ali wasn't a good puncher so the Sanders type of KO sure as hell aint happenin
yes the would be contenders and maybe even belt holders but outside of this era and MAYBE when Marciano ruled they would not be considered the man. The old timers went to war so often with such high level of competition that you really cannot compare modern heavyweights to the old timer
If there are so many that you can say they can't crack the top 30, you should have some idea of who tose names might be...unless you are just trying to stir the pot. I have already posted my list and believe I can justify those picks if need be, although lists are always subjective and variences will occur. But usually you will find a consensus of names in a general area of most students of the sweet science. However to boldly claim they can't crack the top 30, it should not be to difficult to explain why and who ranks higher. I feel I can justify 15 higher than Wlad..and have posted who they are. So again who are your 30??? And no boring champs or division aside they are A level fighters in a B level era.
Brewster and purrity were flukes and don't really count. IMO the only legit loss of Wlad's career was to a very in shape dangerous speedy puncher who wlad overlooked. Let's not forget Ali was alomst KO'd by a bum named henry cooper(who i'm sure you have in the top 20):nut, but you also forget about vit, who's only legit loss was to another top 10 ATG in lennox lewis ( or is he out of the top 20 too) Ali, frazier, fukking LISTON blahahahaha. WOW. OK. So a 6'1" plodding guy with a good jab beats wlad huh? Liston does everything wlad does but comes up short. Wlad kills liston with the jab and starts the rights around the 4th and finshes him in under 8. Probably beat? Lyle? Fukking crude club fighter quarry? Machen. Dude? Seriously. These guys would be lucky to stay alive. And patterson got KO'd by a euro nowhere near wlad's class. FAIL!!
Wow, have you ever watched a fighter who fought outside of the last 5 years??? crude..club fighter..either you do not watch actual boxing matches, or are inept at observing the finer points. I hope the former but am begining to get a picture that spells it is the latter.
The old-timer HW champs, outside of Louis, hardly ever defended the HW title. It was generally harder to get that title shot (unless your name was Pete Rademacher) but once they reached the top, they were less active than today's HW champs. Guys like Dempsey, Patterson, Marciano & Tunney are too small IMO (the Klitschkos are far more talented than Willard). The 1930s pre-Louis had guys like Sharkey, Braddock, and Carnera on top. I don't see them beating either of the Kiitschkos.
Yea I agree with you. People look at the past like it was so great. People refer to the 80's as a good time for the heavyweight division. Yet when Tyson was smashin on people it was being called the bum of the month like back when Louis was champ. Ali was a great Cha,pipn, and there was a lot of great fighters in his time. But saying that they would have all handled Wlad if just ****in stupid. Maybe Ali but the rest would have got there asses beat. Yeah Wlad is boring but the size mixed with his skills and power would have put most of those ****ers to sleep
Quite the opposite. I know alot more than you about the sweet science, so much so that i don't go on waxing nostalgia and being blinded by nationalistic good ol days pride so that i delude myself. Quarry had alot of tough fights so much that he earned ali's respect, so he must be aforementioned as one of the greats? Except that he couldn't carry wlad's or vitlay's jock strap. I do watch the fights, and still do. You're just hanging on to an era that has passed and cannot stand or admit that your heroes wouldn't stand a chance against these terrible and stale russains that your pa told you was evil. So, you con up some bull**** to sell to the younger gen that the fighters of today are weak compared to your yesteryear of all great heavy's. Well, sell it to the tards cause i'm too smart. I'm not only your equal, i';m your superior when it comes to spotting boxing technique, teaching it, seeing it before it comes to play and promise you that either klit would pulverise almost every heavy in history. And if you put down the ol' goggles for a sec, you will too.
1st if we took your brain, and shoved it up a gnat's behind it would look like an acorn in the Grand Canyon. 2nd...nah never mind, I have wasted enough time!
H2H I can see them in the top 25, ATG (weighted more on record) not in the top 30. Besides if you look at the depth of the division back then you had to go through a lot of wars to even be a contender. How would they do in that type of meat grinder. Vk will not fight with a hang nail and Wk has a weak chin. Transport them back to when the heavyweight division was half way decent . . . how would they fair? Neither of them have the toughness or skill to compete. for superheavies they are pretty good but none of these guys today have the skill or talent to exploit their flaws. Perhaps a counter argument to my point is that with stronger competition their skill level would improve but would they have been tough enough to fight in th 60s and 70s or even the 80s or 90s . . . I really do not think so
