You think big men in other countries don't have other sports to compete in? Any idea how popular handball is in Eastern Europe, Germany, Italy? I am sure Werner Guntor could have been a force at HW boxing, id he hadn't grown up in a country that has virtually no boxing and became a wolrd champion shot putter instead. What about the long period of the iron curtain where Eastern Europeans didn't show upin pro boxing at all? What if Teofilio Stevenson would have been a pro?
Myth of the American athlete? Olympic Gold medals USA - 2549 Next closest country Soviet Union - 1204 Oh and we stil have the most champions and most fighters in the P4P top 10. Get with it son.
This is even funnier when you consider Lewis isn't american either which means that Americas only 'real' presence in the last 30 years @ HW is Tyson and in all frankness he was very 1 dimensional (First Buster then Holyfield cracked the code; Tyson couldn't fight inside)
Lol, nice Thread. This will make Pussies of our American Cousins bleed. Think about it if These Eastern Euro dudes would have been able to turn pro earlier.. DAMN. We would have never heard abput Alis, Fraziers, Louis and fellow combatants.:shock:
Ali was shot to **** when he fought both Spinks and Berbick, yet the best either of them could do was win a decision, and one of them even lost in the rematch against him. Wlad was prime when he was KO'd by a 38 year old Sanders and that fight went unavenged. Vitali was prime when he fought a 38 year old Lewis who was off for a full year, showed up at a career high weight and was in the last fight of his life.... He still found a way to lose. Now, I like both Wlad and Vitali, but your comparisons don't ad up.
How about this, of the 5 men who beat the Klitschko's 3 of them were American, while the other two were both in their late 30's.... Thread closed...
