Can't say he doesn't have a wee bit of power... W. Klitschko: W 49 (44 KOs) | L 3 | D 0 Mike Tyson: W 50 (44 KOs) | L 6 | D 0
I think it shows how hard Tyson really punched more. Wlad is a giant compared to the 5'10 inch Tyson, who really was about 218 at the tip of his punching power not 248
Different sort of power really.Tyson generated lots of power through speed, his low centre of gravity enabled him to put insane amount of torque into his punches especially with the uppercut[Bruno fight 1,2],more than any other heavy in history.Vlad's power particularly with the jab and right hand emanates from his raw athletiscm and huge physical dimensions 6'7 250.Comparing Tyson and Vlad is similar to comparing Tyson and Foreman, your hard pressed to come up with and answer. One things for sure though, they can both knock the head off a mule.
Freddie Roach and Tommy Brooks both trained Tyson and Wlad and held pads that they hit. Both say that Wlad punches harder.
With one shot I'd say there are dozens of heavies who hit harder than Tyson....difference is Tyson hit more often, and had insane power in both hands and with practically every shot he threw. Yeah WALDO, Lewis, Ruddock, Bruno and lots of others hit harder with their honey punch but for Tyson pretty much everything was a honey punch when he was at his peak.
The Mcneeley bout doesnt count as a ko though, it should be 45 knockouts. Plus more guys were terrified of him and just clinched and ran than against Wlad. Wlad hits VERY hard though and I would rank his power top ten of all time.
They are both huge punchers. But Tyson was more a precision combination puncher. Guys just couldnt handle his hard punches with the speed they had. Wlad may hit harder but I think they were both equally effective punchers. If not, the edge may go to Tyson. But Wlad's punches push through your guard...
