Klitschko's legacy as a champ. If he keeps winning, I'll tell you how I rate him.

First, I use a model that has only room for one champ (as difficult as this is today). Thus, I refer to Wlad.

He is a great champion. I am sorry if that word offends the fragile amongst you, but talent wise, keep it real. Is he great in the historical sense? I think not because of one problem.

    His brother Vitali.

The Klits come as a package, and this has positives and negatives. The positives include novelty and marketability. The only real negative, albeit ****ing massive, is that they wish to share the title. Of course, they do not see it as a problem, but in the "one true champ model" it is.

I don't care that they do not fight. The fight would suck. It would be meaningless. This means though that Wlad cannot fight the man who would very likely have given him his greatest challenge.

As for the small matter of the rest of his career? Props for revenge against Brewster. Brewster may not have been at his best but in boxing this is the norm. Wlad was not at his best in their first match. He got iced by Sanders and Purity (I don’t give a **** that he gassed because this is boxing). I count these, don’t worry.

His opponents are not big personalities but in terms of ring skill he makes them look bad. It makes little sense to imagine that all fighters in the division suck to the point of not being able to get a round off klit, rather than Klit being that ****ing good. Oh, Wlad is that ****ing good. A solid 6'6 athlete with supreme athletic ability and the boxing ability to utilize such athletic gifts is going to be up there if he can fulfil his potential. Wlad still has time to go, but he is walking the walk. It aint the height or the reach or the jab or the right or the power. It is everything put together: the ability to box.

Where does he rank then? No clue. Matter of taste and most people don't rate substance over style. Just a pity he did not have a guy as good as Vitali as a challenger. If Vitali was his friend and not his brother and he beat him, I’d freely talk about The Great Wlad Klitschko.

It would make many pussies bleed, but what you gonna do?

As a notorious classic boxing hawk, and I am willing to say that Wlad should be recognised as a great heavyweight.

There is no prescedent in the history of the heavyweight divisdion, for a fighter being the No1 in the division, or consistently beating ranked contenders, for so long without being recognised as a great.

If Wlad never gets the lineal heavyweight title then he is just another Sam Langford or Harry Wills.

Prime for prime, Vitali is the better brother. He might not be as textbook as his little brother, but he is smarter and more effective.

Right now, I give the edge to Wlad.

I a historical sense, both are very good, but Vitali is clearly better than Wlad.

Wladimir should be recognized as an all time great once he hangs up the gloves, he's perfected a style under Manny Steward that makes the average fan cry out for boredom. But the true boxing analysts and boxing fans will recognize just how truly dominant he was, and is.. for the moment.

He will be sorely missed when he hangs them up, I don't see anyone on the horizone beating Wladimir, thus I see him leaving the sport on top.
But hey, it's heavyweight boxing and anything can happen in a short period of time.

Still, Wladimir is by far, the man.

I can't rate Vitali above Wlad in any sense. A part of me would like to, but Wlad has proved himself at the highest level more than VK.

VK may have beaten Wlad, but it is unproven so I can't use it.

I agree but I think that his legacy would have been so much better had he had an opponent as good as VK. He will go down as not fighting the best available, which is unfortunate.

it's gotta be taken as it is...

this new dominant Wlad drags out fites

bear in mind he has MASSIVE physical advantages over almost all of the contenders, and the one area where he is in trouble on the inside, he doesnt fight , he doesnt work out, he doesnt clinch, he bends over and leans his frame all over their back// countless times, its crazy stuff and its blatant cheating, you gotta fight his fight in germany for sure, let Jay nady referee all his fights,

his opponents are all disadvantage hugely .. weight, height, reach, experience, and no infighting allowed !!!!

    this is not greatness !!!

    Woah!

    Stop the presses.

What does this have to do with it?

Tyson and Foreman had a power advantage.

Ali had speed advantage and a height advantage over most.

    Lewis had a height advantage.

Holyfield had the ability to come back strong after massive punishment.

Holy had reach and height over Tyson

    McCall had an iron chin.

    etc.

Why are we taking points away from Wlad for being big? This is the heavyweight division.

    Just what are the rules?
