Now that Wlad has won his unification bout, he has two belts to defend, with mandatories already waiting. Will he have to fight Povetkin and Thompson within a certain amount of time? If so, how will that give him time for a fight for the WBC or WBA belt?

I doubt he will have to face all the mandatories they may name him super champ for 2 of the belts and issue more of them who knows.

Wlad just said post-match that he won't go for the WBC belt so that Vitali can win it during his comeback.

    No joke.

So there won't be a unified champion anytime in the near future.

There's an IBF-IBO-WBO Champion who is going to fight a mandatory against Povetkin and maybe, Tony Thompson later.

klitschko should fight a bear next, never have I seen such power, such speed, fearlessness wrapped up in one fighter. he is now INVINCIBLE, and only the largest members of the animal kingdom can challenge him, men no longer can.

I think his next fight might be Rahman or Povetkin. I think that further unification is unlikely next.

Rahman would further his name here in the US and would provide the kind of style Klitschko needs to face to look impressive. Plus, Rahman has a resume that is very good and includes a win over Lennox Lewis. And Rahman has never had a great chin!

Povetkin could be next simple because he is a mandatory. Though it is a fight that does little for Klitschko's legacy because Povetkin still is not a very established heavyweight.

Rahman is also fat and out of shape.

Wlad doesn't need the WBC belt, he has already beat Peter.

He needs the WBA belt, so he needs to fight Chagaev, or the Chagaev/Valuev winner.

A mandatory fight against Alex Povetkin would not be bad. But he doesn't need to fight Tony Thompson.

He was tubby against Sykes (261lbs) but since then he's been right back into good shape (243lbs).

Thompson might be the next guy for Wlad. His claim as the #1 WBO mandatory has been in place longer than Povetkin, so it's probably a fight that should be arranged asap to get it done & dusted.

Ugh. Hopefully not the shot Rahman.

The most intriguing fights would be against Povetkin and Valuev.

Povetkin would most likely not stand back and try to counter and is physically stronger than Ibragimov. That would be an interesting fight.

Valuev would be good simply because of the freaky size matchup and the fact that he's tall enough to be right in Wlad's range. Would be a knockout for Wlad.

His brother stated in yesterday's interview on German tv that a fight between Wlad and Valuev would be extremely interesting.
Thompson is an American nobody-a totally unknown name.
Povetkin is better known, but still no household name in the imporant German market.
Valuev is a draw.Even casual sport fans have heard his name.
According to Germany's biggest newspaper Bild-which is ususally well informed about the Klitschko's future plans-both Vitaly and Wlad will appear on a fight card to open Germany's newest and most modern indoor arena(17,000) in Germany's capital Berlin in september.
Wlad's next fight will take place in Germany anyway!Thats for sure! German tv pays big money to broadcast the Klitschko brothers' fights.
Vitaly and Wlad on the same card! Guess the 17,000 would be sold out within 10 minutes!

Here's the thing with Valuev: it's probably the most interesting fight for Wlad, but it'll be even more interesting if Valuev can take out Chagaev and get his belt back, making Wlad-Valuev another unification fight on top of things.

Povetkin's most likely going to want a little more time to take on Wlad- I think he'll take one more fight in the meantime.

That leaves Thompson for his next fight, who might be the best US heavyweight at the moment and has a respectable record. He's also another big fighter that Wlad should easily dismantle. Taking out that mandatory should open things up for Wlad to then fight the Chagaev-Valuev winner, and Povetkin.

 get the hell out of here with that ****! let's see if your boy can get through senior citizen maskaev first. as of now wlad is the champ and peter is just a contender. he must earn his rematch and prove he is worthy. btw, what waldo avatar do i have to sport :yep

as for wlad's next fight, it's either going to be Thompson or Chagaev.
Povetkin is out of the picture right now. Im sure wlad is gonna want to fight right away to redeem himself. Chagev was in attendace so maybe something wil develop and he'll man up and fight wlad next. but if i had to guess, we will see:

    Early summer: Wlad-Thompson in germany
    Fall: Wlad-Povetkin.

That's not a bad year at all for wlad but he better fight 3x this year or it will be very hard to defend him. I hope we will see wlad fight for the wba belt sometime this year but i doubt it
