Wlad was preparing in late 2019 to make a comeback and fight for a 'belt' in early to mid 2020. It was derailed by Covid. IF he was going to make a comeback that would have been the time not now. Go watch the Joshua fight. Wlad missed with every single left hook he threw (which was several) some by as much as two feet or so and his timing was awful. Prime Wlad even as cautious as he could be at times would have stopped Joshua in 5 rounds o so. The openings were there in that fight but other than the right hand he couldn't land them. He certainly isn't going to be any better 8 years later. He turns 50 in March for christ sakes!
I don't think he would have defended 8/9 more times even with Steward tbf. Wlad would have had to kept defending till 2020/21.
I don’t want to see him come back. He’s lucky that he made it through a 70 fight career without significant brain damage. It would be very dangerous for his health to take punches from much younger HWs at 50 years old.
I think there's a very good chance he would have beaten Fury and Joshua under Manny at the very least.
So would of took him to 44. Correct Fury and Joshua would of been his hardest tests to keep going that long. He was 42 with Joshua
While it's true the talent of fighters was visible even before Steward got with them that's the case with almost all top level trainers and the turnaround with Wlad in particular deserves massive credit.
Do you really think he does not know that ? But he also knows the business , the jake paul style of fights .
