There is no one on the horizon that can even compete with him, he will do his mandatory when he has to, other than that its only business. UK fans seem to be delusional in their support, so Wlad is trying to cash out on that while he can.
I have little interest in Wlad fighting either one of these guys. If he were to schedule a big fight around Dec or Jan and wanted to squeeze a fight with one of these guys in between then thats fine but if Wlad is only going to fight twice a year I don't want to see one of them wasted on one of these guys. If Haye wants to keep fighting then Haye vs the winner of this would be ok but Wlad should be looking at bigger fights.
Could be, but Vlad will have a lot of mandatories to fight, will keep him very busy. Vitali/Haye fight might happen.............
chisora was a keep busy don't get rusty fight...schedualed for 15,000 seat SAP arena in Mannheim. Now he can get a bigger stadium in England. He owes the guy a fiight.... That Finnish guy had remarkable power....when he looks like a TBA type of fighter....all natural muscle....don't look like he ever saw a weight room. Hope he don't, that would slow him down. You got to leave some fruit on the tree for next year...
If they fight, it will be : Fury 15-0 Best Wins Chisora Page Mcdermott OR Chisora 15-0 Fury Sexton Danny Williams
My guess is that Wlad is personally upset with his reputation as a boring, overly-careful fighter. Especially after his performance against the Princess. As he should be. Haye stunk up the place, but Wlad also has nothing to be proud of. So maybe he's looking to fight a guy he has no fear of, so he can fight very aggressively. Personally, I just don't care anymore. I hope he retires. Soon.
who else is there to fight? Fighting the Chisora/Fury winner would be a huge year for wlad fighting the #1 and #2 in Britain. He also deserves a somewhat easy fight after his unification at the end of the year to come back with 3 good fights in 2012
It's a case where good ethics and good business align perfectly. Wlad should give Chisora his shot (provided he wins, of course) after bailing on him to fight Haye, and the fight'll sell well in the UK. It'll sell better than it would've before in fact, which means more money for both guys. I'd rather watch that fight than another lopsided rematch (which we'll probably get for his mandatory defense anyways, since I think Chambers and Thompson are going to fight for the IBF mandatory spot), and it doesn't seem like Povetkin, Pulev, or Helenius are ready to take their shots. I figure at least one out of the 3 will get the call next year though.
Also, Pulev and Helenius are no slouches, but Wlad won't get as much credit fighting either of them now because of how few fights they have. Helenius, in particular, is still somewhat green. With Chisora, not having many fights doesn't matter because people aren't expecting him to be a great defense. Pulev and Helenius can become top contenders with a few more solid wins, and they'll look better on his resume once they do that as opposed to Wlad taking one of them out now. And they'll make for better fights once they get a little more professional seasoning, too.
Bump - As i stated Chisora sucks, isn't even elite at the British level and thankfully he won't get a Championship payday. Now that Brits aren't latching onto him as a "HW Saviour" ala Haye hopefully they'll deport his woman beating ass.
