Knew it! Ali would have owned Tyson Fury! Modern day giant argument nonsense

Did Usyk change your mind about how much size matters?

  1. Yes

    63.9%
  2. No

    36.1%

And Wlad was pretty much cooked by the time he went in with Fury.

Prime Wlad would have killed him.

Its objective for how to rank a fighter not how they would do H2H. There are plenty of fighters with a good resume but would lost to fighters with worse resume H2H and the opposite is also true. H2H is based mostly on eye test end of the day

Human biology for everyone regardless of size is basically the same, with a margin of variance but in the end a 200lbs man and a 250lbs man's skull is still basically just bone and flesh, it's not like when a human reaches the weight of 250lbs their skull suddenly changes in structure or bone density or they gain some extra layer of cushioning around the brain, that's what I mean in regards to my comment on human physiology. There are limits to how much force the human skull can withstand and it seems that once a man reaches in excess of 200lbs and they can punch he's capable of KOing pretty much anyone if they can land flush.

As for your odd role playing game analogy. That's an oversimplification, you say skill score but boxing has a lot of variables. How are those skills dividing up between attributes like power, speed, endurance, skill, ring IQ etc. So I disagree with the outcome being the same in your scenario because is would depend upon how each fighters differing strengths and weaknesses mesh in the fights, as the old adage says styles makes fights. Simply having the same overall skill points doesn't mean they have the same style and that the outcomes would be the same.

I agree with the 2nd half of your post, the big men of the past simply were fewer and less skilled that's true. But here we have Usyk in this era proving being smaller he can beat these giant modern super heavies. Styles make fights in the end and no matter what your physical advantages when up against a style that can mitigate those advantages then you will lose unless you can adapt and do something different.

Eye tests have failed even more people than comparing resumes, H2H rank is not more objective lmfao. It's all based on how good you think a fighter looks, not who they've beaten.

Fury has struggled with significantly lesser competition throughout his career, and got a couple gift decisions against them. They weren't world class. Trust me, he is very good but you are overrating this guy. What puts Fury ahead of Bowe H2H ? Replace Ngannou or Wilder with Golota or Hide and that's Furys ass

I wouldn't say either era was weak but the 70s had atleast 4 fighters that are considered greats or ATGs Heavyweights as I said Holmes, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, hence that era was stronger to me.

The only great fighter in Heavyweight division now is Usyk, i never considered Fury great and the other current Heavyweights are rated from good to solid to me.

The main reason Usyk gets rated highly is because hes beating much bigger fighters and rightly so but none of them are great fighters IMO Joshua, Fury, etc.

I still give Usyk alot of credit and I do think think he rates highly on a H2H basis at Heavyweight despite not having that many fights at the weightclass.

Ali could do a job of walking a taller guy down. Bugner 1 being the best example. He dealt well with Terrell's reach also. Of course, these guys weren't Fury's size and they weren't punchers.

Mb I think you misunderstood what I meant I meant resume is more objective measurement at how a fighter should be ranked rather then how they would do H2H as fighters with better resumes aren't necessarily better H2H. As an example despite having a worse resume I think Vitali is much better H2H then Wlad.
He's been more impressive at his best based on eye test and H2H looks at fighters at their best it's the same as saying Ali wouldn't do well because he lost to Spinks and looked awful against Young obviously you look at him at his best and at his best Fury is very hard to deal with.

Except Ali was shot against Spinks and way past it against Young. We knew Ali fought on too long for his own good. Fury isn't that past it, his resume at best is a quarter compared to the greats and yet he still has just as much if not more bad performances. It's this ratio that makes me question why you're suggesting this stuff

At the very least even when looking at dominance Fury was NOT like a Vitali. I get what you're trying to say, but it's just so strange, especially considering Furys always getting dropped. Just imagine if Bowe dropped Fury, Fury has not a prayer unless the bell saves him. Bowe has the better argument H2H, FFS man

Ali had bad performances even in his prime not the point though. I just think head to head it's hard to beat a huge heavyweight who outweighs his opponents, has a height and reach advantage and is as fast as a man half his size, idk why that's a crazy claim to make.

Against an MMA fighter ? Yeah Ali got dropped, but how many bad fights in his prime or near it ? Then take into account Ali took on all comers unlike a certain someone.

I can understand why you think H2H nightmare yet still so many controversial fights in a mediocre era, at least it's worse than the 90s definitely so I just can't agree. He wasn't even as dominant as you claim.

I really do believe Bowe > Fury at this point

Delusional if Steve Cunningham who is far less skilled than Ali hurt Fury why couldn't Ali I have seen Ali handle a taller fighter like Wepner and Terrel with ease.

Honestly Fury could give all the greats problems but he's been dropped and hurt too many times for me to think he beats many them, and that's outside the resume and bad performance arguments. He can be hurt so easily, a few would have KO'd him off the finish definitely

Ali could fight taller guys Bugner, Terrell and Wepner were all taller than him he walked them down. Made them miss alot and outworked them. Ali was capable of fighting bigger men because he had excellent measurement, Ring IQ, heart and his strongest asset was creativity he could of adapted and he could of been bigger than he was with the same technology.
