Sexton's is definitely a gawdDAMN! knockout. Paredes had good work leading up to it, but was prettier, had the luck of better camera angles, and was less of a monstrous mismatch of talent. Johnson's was the scariest for me, tonight. I don't think Mack will ever recover from that one... he looked poleaxed and shot from the first knockdown with his brain somewhere out in the nosebleed seats. (I haven't seen Chop Chop yet but, at this point in his career, it was inevitable.)
Inevitable or not - it was SAVAGE - and will be the real youtube sensation to come out of this week's fights, regardless of what Tessitore says.
I wouldn't be surprised if Corley's jaw is broken. He went down like a tree. Perfectly placed hook, was out when the shot hit, and fell over about 3 seconds later.
I'd say, in order of crushing impact, it's probably... 1) Hernandez KO5 Corley 2) Sexton KO1 Ahmed 3) Paredes KO2 Hernandez 4) Karmazin KO10 Miranda 5) Duddy KO1 Astorga 5 weeks into the year, and we've had 5 hard-hitting memorable KOs.
Nope. Silver medal. It was a good single shot that Ahmed didn't see, and his quick vertical collapse was highlight worthy. However, if you haven't seen Corley's shattering at the hands of The Rail, keep an eye out for a video or animated .gif - it was the most destructive punch of the year and wasn't just a lucky one that struck gold; Freddy worked at it and found a spot to drop it. Also, Corley's certainly well past his best but who the hell is Ahmed? I'm not trying to downplay Sexton's KO here, as it was picture-perfect and shows he has terrific power, but keeping things in perspective it wasn't on the same level as Hernandez-Corley even as great as it was.
Damn, I forgot about Sexton's KO! Not even two full months in and it's already tough to decide which is KOTY!
