Carl Thompson at that point was a top 10 cruiserweight and pretty much as good as he ever was. It was also Hayes 10th fight. As for being thumped all over the ring, the fight was dominated by Haye who then wilted due to what I assume was bad conditioning at the time. That Thompson is not comparable to THIS Toney.
