i thought it was cuz he was sitting on his punches with mean intent. Every punch had ko written all over it he was much more patient than usual and he even took a punch to land one. Im sure it was just the overall strategy to wait, let manny get real aggressive, he wasnt trying to get hit but once you he stopped countering shots manny got more and more aggressive so he waited for the perfect time and he got it. Although age is a good reason too if im wrong.
I love all the Pacquiao fans in here who are slobbering over how good Pacquiao looked in a fight where he was dropped, then stunned badly two rounds later, then hit so hard his everlasting soul tried to leave his body and a ringside observer had to perform some sort of invocation to the gods to keep it in. Pacquiao took a calculated risk to be more aggressive to attempt to secure a dominant victory over a foe he has never convincingly beat. In the short term it paid off in allowing him to land more, but it also allowed him to get caught a lot more cleanly by a Marquez that was sitting on his punches and looking for a KO. If Pacquiao had been more cautious he like would not have been KOed, but he also wouldn't have landed nearly as much and we'd be talking again about how JMM outboxed him and was robbed.
He seemed noticeably slower. Most everyone thinks this is the fastest Pac has been in a while but I think it's relative. Pacquiao appeared to be a lot faster because Marquez was slower which he compromised for power. The gamble paid off big time.
I honestly think him taking punches was a calculated trade off for being able to land with a lot more power. He knew he had to get the KO because we already seen if he wins 8 to 9 rounds he still loses. Everything was put into getting the KO from setting up the early rounds with heavy body shots to staying in harms way in the mid rounds. I honestly doubt he has actually shown down in any significant way, he was setting his feet to throw with power, where in the previous fights he uses a LOT of movement to offset Manny. It was a complete change of strategy. If he starts moving more, he wont throw with that much power and he will get robbed.
