Well known African middle weight contender Kofi Jantuah(who had a close fight with AA,knocked Rubio out in the very first round, and beat Daniel Santos) will square off against undefeated Russian Dimitry Pirog on the undercard of Bakhtov vs Kretschman(interesting heavy weight fight) this upcomming friday.Eurosport will show Jantuah vs Pirog live.
Pirog had been scheduled to fight Mahir Oral, but the German based Turk got an offer to challenge Artur Abraham and pulled out of his encounter with Pirog.
Pirog has been racing on the fast tracks. He only has 13 fights in the paid ranks, but has already beaten fighters like the experienced vet Tatevosjan(who beat James Toney, and went the full route with fighters like Karmazin,Eastman, and Gevor),tough roughhouse Aslanbek Kodzoev(who beat Jerry Elliot),and Kuvanych Toygonbaev(who beat Tskurkan in New York, lost a mayority decision to Keith Holmes, and a split decision to Ian Gardner).Pirog stopped all three aformentioned known names inside the distance.
Pirog is a rising and very promising new face around the block whose style is quite crowd-pleasing as he tends to take risks in the ring and doesnt really know how to cautiously outpoint an opponent.
Jantuah wont be a walk in the park for the Russian shooting star at all.Pirog will have to nail his true colours to the mast in this upcomming middle weight fight.
I for my part think that either Jantuah or Pirog would be far tougher opponents for either AA(Oral) and Pavlik(Mora?) than Oral who cant crack an egg with soft punches or Mora.

Here Pirog's encounter with the very rough and tough Kodzoev:

good fighter, pirog. aggressive and impressive. this could be a tough test, and it's admirable that he's being tested on the way up. future world champ, IMO.

for whatever reason, the current champs aren't delivering. so i look forward to the day when pirog, golovkin, korobov, and also macklin & barker, make progress.

Nice fight, nice thread. I look forward to this and gonna catch it if I'm free. Is this some sort of eliminator or something? Pirog is matched tough and moving fast, this should be a good indicator how far he is from the elite.

I've heard the winner of Pirog vs Jantuah will meet the winner of Zbik vs Spada for the WBC Interim title next.

Both Pirog and Jantuah would beat both Zbik and Spada in my opinion, but I dont think that their fight will come off.

The winner of Zbik vs Spada will be Pavlik's mandatory.Neither the GErman nor the Italian will risk their status against a big puncher like Pirog or a capable fighter like Jantuah.

there is light at the end of the tunnel:good

at present middle weight is a truly weak weight division-apart from aa and pavlik there are no outstanding top fighters.i guess in about 18 months middle weight will be hot again.some pretty good young guns fight at middle weight
