Who will win in the past in a unification match between Kohei Kono (WBA) & Yota Sato (WBC) in Super Flyweight (115 lbs) ? At Yota Sato's retirement ceremony, Kohei Kono sparred with Yota Sato for three rounds. In the first two rounds, Sato dominated him with his jab, but by the third round, Yota Sato was tired and Kohei Kono began to put dangerous pressure on Yota Sato and it's was the end of the match.
They fought for a Japanese title and Sato won convincingly enough. He had a stylistic advantage in that one. Kono's pace was not something He could not handle - and the power was not as destructive as when He fought Srisaket.
Of course but Kono was not on his prime during that fight. But yeah Sato have the style for beat Kono. 'But what is hard is to know the level of Kono who was very good when he knocked out Denkaosan Kaovichit & Tepparith Kokietgym (who was the number 1 or 2 in 115 lbs at this moment).
I don't think He was better in 2012 or 2014 than He was in 2011. He might've won a world title against Nashiro in 2008 and He was world class competitor for the next decade, basically. He was always consistent, always fit and always game - his success depended on the match-ups. Lanky boxers like Rojas and Sato - also Norbelto Jimenez a bit later on - were just difficult for him.
