There are people openly praying in the crowd. It must be close enough overall that think Shimizu has a chance at the upset here.

    Round 12

Cazares comes in jabbing to the body and then throws a wild right hook off the jab, pitching forward off balance and nearly into the ropes but recovering before Shimizu can exploit it. Cazares is breathing through his mouth and his balance is a bit shaky pretty much with every step but he still comes forward throwing bombs (and missing). Shimizu is also exhaling through a gaping maw, and is no longer countering effectively. Shimizu is just flopping his tall frame around and looking to sling his arms around Cazares to slow him down. Both try to land combos but they just get tangled and bump together with only incidental leather touching either. Good spirited finish by both, except very little landing cleanly.

Cazares' corner enters the ring and hoists him up on their shoulders.

The Shimizu camp looks a little less confident. The fans are now praying even harder and look nervous.

Cazares - 1, 6 and 10 clear. He won most of the 8th but Shimizu finished it well.

    Shimizu - 2 close, 9 and 11 clear.

The 12th was a very sloppy round where neither accomplished (or connected) much, but Cazares' aggression was probably the difference maker.

Without seeing rounds 3, 4, 5 and 7 it's hard to know if this was home cooking or just a close one that just happened to go the way that pleased the ticket holders.

They sure know how to multitask in Japan!

Instead of playing the Mexican anthem in the ring, they're running it over the PA while De La Mora is getting set to make his walk out.
