    Actually, you're right.

Without the KD it was a pretty clear 10-9 DLM.

So yeah, it would have been a MD for De la Mora instead. :good

The 115-113 and 115-114 scores for Kameda would have become
115-114 and 116-114 for De la Mora (turning the 10-8 Kameda round into 10-9 for DLM)

    Kameda's 115 minus 10 is 105 plus 9 is 114
    DLM's 113 minus 8 is 105 plus 10 is 115
    DLM's 114 minus 8 is 106 plus 10 is 116

    I'm just slow.

Like I said, mornings + math + IB = :dead. :yep

    It was.

David deserves but probably won't get a rematch.

Team Mexico may have gone 0-2 but they honored the verde, blanco y rojo with their intense performances. :good

Now, since they're close enough in weight - separated by a mere three pounds - I see no harm in cross-analyzing the match-ups.

Campeon vs. campeon: Kameda would just devour Shimizu in one gulp. It might not go three rounds unless Koki wanted to carry his countryman out of respect (and the Kameda clan isn't renowned for being particularly upright and respectful...) Tomonobu does not have a length advantage or a much better outside game than Kameda, and would get bullied by his strength at short range.

De la Mora vs. Cazares would be a memorable war, with DLM cast as the boxer of the two and Cazares the puncher. I think David's crisper style and more liberal body work would see him through to victory, unless Cazares is able to catch him with as perfect and forceful a left as Kameda did in an exchange.

Against Shimizu, DLM would be more in the puncher's role. If he can get to Shimizu - and he probably would if he stayed intelligently aggressive - he can hurt him and most likely finish him. If he is too reckless in his approach - the mistake that got him knocked down, essentially facilitating his defeat - Shimizu could use archery and guile to dance and pot-shot his way to a "Tokyo decision". His build might not allow it, but if he can comfortably make 115 this could be De la Mora's best shot at a world title for a multitude of reasons. He is already in the WBA ranking web, isn't likely to get within spitting distance of Kameda again, ans would probably welcomed back in a heartbeat by Japanese television. The TBS broadcast team bellowed themselves hoarse calling the action, between anguished moans when Kameda was hurt and delerious anticipatory battle cries whenever he landed a good shot. The fact that DLM gave them such a startle seemed to just make them relish even more his eventual repellation.

Kameda vs. Cazares is a very interesting southpaw summit. El Increible has proven power that has carried from light flyweight all the way up to super bantamweight (on one occasion). Kameda is younger, bigger and sharper - but he is far less physically durable and has at times looked on the verge of panic when confronted with heavy pressure. This is another toss-up: stoppage for the Mexicano or a three-card salute to the Nihon-jin.

The soundtrack for this card was awesome, btw.

Track 1 - "The One You Love To Hate" by Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson (estranged and later reunited iconic lead vocalists of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, respectively)

Track 2 - "Burning Heart" by Survivor (forever known to boxing fans for this and their previous contribution to the Rocky franchise, "Eye of the Tiger" - and known to everybody else as "Journey Lite")

They didn't show the ring walks for Cazares and Shimizu, but given Shimizu's haircut and Cazares' national pride I'm guessing it was something like this...

Track 3 - "Rock and Roll (Hey Hey Hey)" by Gary Glitter

Track 4 - some peppy Jalisco mariachi tune.

Track 5 - Japanese commentators screeching "BUDI BUDI BUDI BUDI BUDI BUDI"

...I'd gladly buy that off iTunes for $4. :thumbsup

My first act upon arriving to work was slugging down two cups of hot coffee and pouring a third to "enjoy". My second act was to go hide in the bathroom stall to sip not-quite-scalding coffee and read through DemolitionDan's RBR thread for Geale vs. Albert. :!:

These early starts to catch Japanese & Aussie boxing wreak havoc on normal sleeping patterns! (not that mine are normal, per se...)

Not necessarily. The 115-113 card looks like it was scored 10-9 for Kameda, not 10-8. So, it would only be a two point swing, making it a draw. In short, this was a close fight that could have gone either way.

either that or one of the rounds could have been scored 10-10
