To be fair to Breazeale, that was just about the most competitive one round KO I've seen live

Exactly. It's one division. If you're the heavyweight champion, you're supposed to be able to beat everyone. That was true then. It's true now. You hold all to the same standard.

For all the talk that heavyweights used to be smaller, Wilder said he weighed 206 when he entered the ring for Fury. That's what heavyweights like Joe Louis, Max Baer, Lou Nova, Arturo Godoy tended to weight 70 and 80 years years ago. But Wilder isn't fighting 185 or 195 pound light heavyweights who moved up. Fury was at least 50 pounds heavier and Ortiz and Breazeale were 30 pounds heavier. LaStarza and Charles and Walcott weren't 50 pounds heavier than Marciano.

Wilder has been outweighed by all his opponents going back nearly 10 years. He enters the ring around the weight of the older heavyweights and he's not picking on light heavys moving up. He's fighting big men. And all he does is get bashed by fans for it. It's ridiculous.

Wilder fought in the same division as guys like Usyk and Beterbiev in the amateurs, and when they all turned pro, Wilder decided to fight heavyweights and they decided to cut weight for the weigh-ins and fight lesser fighters in lighter divisions.

I'm sure Wilder would do just fine obliterating Pascal and Kovalev and Beterbiev and all the light heavyweight champs in his next half-dozen outings rather than some of the monsters he has been facing ... but I gather that all the people praising older champs for fighting light heavys wouldn't be standing up and praising Wilder if he tore their heads off. They'd ridicule him for it, because they know the guys he's been fighting would beat the light heavyweight champs.

Wilder is a fine champion. He's about to make his tenth straight WBC heavyweight title defense. People need to wake up.

You agree and I disagree. What we can't diacount is that Machen and Patterson were the best fighters in the world. Wilder never beat the best fighter in the world.

Then why he didn't beat anybody relevant so far? As a champion he should have beaten most contenders, he just didn't. He's not the champion, he's just a belt holder.
Joe Louis beat both. Ali beat both. Because they fought everybody. Wilder fights old, big stiffs (outside of Fury and Ortis who is still old). He didn't fight Joshua, Whyte, Ruiz, Parker, Povetkin, Pulev, Usyk and even Kovalev. He fought Ortis and Fury and won only one of these fights. What do you not understand at this point?

Liston was the best HW of that era. Both Patterson and Machen lost to him.

They were two of the best fighters in the world at that time. They were definitely more proven and successful than Ortis.

    Exactly.

If Canelo or Kovalev, like Toney, Walker, Moore, and Adamek, had a go at heavyweight, and got relevant wins over heavyweight contenders, then I wouldn't have a problem with them fighting Wilder.

Though Walker never even fought for the heavyweight title.

So now you're complaining because he hasn't fought guys like Parker and Kovalev?

Wilder's fought two of the current top five heavyweights. And he's fighting them again in his next two fights.

Ruiz wasn't a factor until he turned into Buster Douglas and won in June. Joshua just got dropped four times and quit. Whyte is going to be banned for eight years because he's a well known and twice busted PED cheat.

    What do you NOT understand?

The MOST RELEVANT fighter to face is Fury. Wilder already floored him twice and successfully defended against him. And he's fighting him again in February.

Most people would be happy the top two heavyweights in the world (Wilder and Fury) have not only faced off and it was a great fight and they are signed to fight again in few months.

You're complaining Wilder hasn't fought freaking Joseph Parker or Kovalev yet?

Seriously, you need get a grip. You're so far off base with all these complaints.

Draw is a successful defense only for excusers and this result was lucky for Wilder.
I'm complaining that he didn't fight Joshua, Whyte, Ruiz, Parker, Povetkin, Pulev, Usyk and instead he fought Arreola, Szpilka, Washington, Molina and Breazale. You act like I'm stupid but you use my words completely out of context.

I'm happy that he will fight Ortis and Fury. He should have done that years before. We can't assume that he'll beat them though.

As I said, so far Wilder doesn't have great resume. With another Ortis win and first Fury win he will be in much better situation. It hasn't happened so far.

Wilder and Tyson Fury are the top two heavyweights in the world. They've fought once, they're fighting again in February.

And he should have had much more fights like that at that stage of his career.

There have been numerous draws in heavyweight title fights.

    Bone up on your history.

But that's not a victory, especially given that most saw Fury winning. We'll see how the rematch will end up, but we can't say that Wilder beat Fury. He didn't, that's why he doesn't have any great win.
