Fury should be more aggressive. He was too passive. Wilder was losing every round but he was allowed to throw and throw. Make him pay more. Wilder tends to knock guys out while they are both measuring each other looking tentative. He's not some special counter puncher.
Honestly? It is possible that he is scared! I prime Fury from 2015 would not be, but like i just wrote in an other thread i have more and more a gut feeling his body took more damage from the Alc and Cocaine as he thought about 1 year ago. Nobody can abuse his body for about 2 years with drinking and taking coacine almost on daily base and dont get any damage from it. I like the line "ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS", which is in my opinion one of the best and most truthfull lines ever created by mankind. You can say your girlfriend/wife over and over again "I love you", but you have to back it up with actions, otherwise she wont believe it. And Furys actions in 2019 dont back his words, 2 nobodies as opponents, doing WWE, talking about UFC and career ending etc., the actions go more in the direction he knows deep inside he is not the same as 2015 and cant reach this level ever again...we saw same in Ali and Tyson. Both were great in the 60´s and 80´s, but not on the same level in the 70´s and 90´s. If a pro fighter stop his career for 2-3 years, maybe he can never reach the same level again. Ali was forced because of Vietnam, Tyson because of his jail time, and both never reached their prime level again. And if Fury knows it and his wife Paris knows it too, i am very confident in believe Paris dont want the rematch with Wilder, because a 90% Fury is not enough, he needs the 100% like he did against Wladimir. I would guess the Fury from the Wilder fight would also have been dropped by Wladimir at least 1 time in 12 rounds. And you know what would back this up too? Where the hell is Warren? Why isnt he so outspoken anymore as he was 5-12 months ago? It seems like Arum took the control and Warren is out of business. And this would also make sense if Warren knows now that Fury can never reach his 100% and will loose against Wilder very certain.
Of course he is... He was afraid to rematch Wlad so he stalled the HW division for 2 years and went on a drug binge due to the embarrassment.
Tyson isn't scared of any fighter. Their rematch has been pencilled in for early next year, and I believe that the negotiations are still on going.
Great question. The answer is no but it is vastly more complex than that. Before we continue this discussion the following needs to be stated: NO MATTER WHAT YOU PERSONALLY BELIEVE, HIS MATCH AGAINST WILDER WAS RULED A DRAW. THIS IS IMPORTANT. I do not believe for a minute that Tyson Fury is afraid of Wilder. I believe he is cautious. There is a HUGE difference. Fury was denied a victory he (and a lot of others) believe he earned and that plays into the psychological aspect of caution, ie: Why should I risk everything when I won and they stole that from me? Why shouldn’t I get paid to fight some nobodies on the off chance they screw me again against Wilder... Fury understands the politics. Tyson Fury, like all boxers who are coming towards the end of their careers, wants to either maximize the pay or if they are financially well off enough, minimize the risk. Fury is simply trying to do both on the chance that A: Wilder lands a bomb in their second fight. B: The judges screw him in their second fight. I personally do not like a Tyson Fury. He has one solid win on his resume he has milked forever. However... is he afraid. NO. I believe if either A or B happens when he faces Wilder, he will retire.
The problem is that even though Wilder looks tentative, he has already formulated various plans to match whatever tentative evasive plan the opponent has. So his looking tentative is very misleading because what he's actually doing is calculating and observing what movement will indicate what plan he has devised to deal with that particular movement. Notice that during the rounds that he is studying his opponent, he dons this confused facial expression as if he's totally baffled. Neither does he reveal during those rounds the swift velocity with which he can deploy the right hand. He paws a lot with it in slow-mo to lull the opponent to sleep. Therefore, opponent's brain gets no feedback on how that right hand will operate in real time. In short, there is far more method than madness to the way that Wilder fights, and not realizing that can prove disastrous for any opponent.
That last episode when he hit the canvass and looked like a cadaver might be haunting him. His family has expressed serious concern for his welfare and maybe even advised him not to risk that type of injury again. Wilder has had plenty time to machinate on how to deploy that right hand against him again in many diverse ways that only he knows how. So getting hit by it during a rematch is more of a possibility than it was during the first fight. Is it worth the risk? If bludgeoned to the canvass that way again, will he suffer permanent brain damage? Will he die this time? All those things worry his father and his wife and I am very sure that they are constantly expressing those concerns to him. Those might be the reasons for any hesitation.
I don’t think he’s afraid. If he wanted to, he could fight a defensive fight and not take any chances. He might not win this type of fight but Fury knows the sweet science very well. Well enough to avoid those telegraphed bombs wilder throws. I suspect they are negotiating as stated and that the fight will take place in early 2020. He took Wilder’s best shots and finished on his feet when Fury was at 50%. Honestly, I didn’t think that was possible. This time, Fury is in better shape and I expect to see Fury to give Wilder a boxing lesson for 12 rounds instead of 10.5 rounds or so. If Fury stays focused and takes care of his business, he will pitch a shutout against the wild swinging Wilder. If he gets sloppy or careless, Wilder will end the fight in savage fashion. This is what makes this matching interesting.
Yes, of course he's afraid. He's petrified, terrified... He's so terrified, in fact, that he signed for the rematch.
Not at all. He pretty much bullied wilder half fit. Fury didnt look grest in his comeback fights to the point fans we,re saying he was nuts to take wilder on. Not only did he take him on but he beat him. If there was a time to be scared it was then. Furys shown consistantly that hes blew hot snd cold but what we,vd seen so far....hes slwsys up for thr big ones. He,ll beat wilder again....easier than the last time as well.
U are the only other person on here peeping Wilder ring intelligence and tactics he's using. I used that term in another post about Wilder using that jab by pawing it. He's actually using that pawing as a measuring stick to land that straight right hand with accuracy. The perfect example was against Ortiz in that last round before KO'ing him. Before he threw that straight right hand, he was pawing his jab and it made Ortiz feel he could step in towards Wilder, in which it put Ortiz at an angle to get hit. Wilder love catching his opponents at an angle.
