Korobow will replace Monroe in the fight against Charlo for the WBC Interim belt

    Matt Korobow (28-1, 14 KO) will be the next rival of the temporary world champion WBC middleweight Jermal Charlo (27-0, 21 KO). The duel will take place on Saturday at the gala organized in New York.

    The 35-year-old Russian will replace Willie Monroe in this bout, who scored a doping failure. Korobow last boxed in March, when he returned to the ring after a half and a half break.

    For Charlo it will also be the second year's performance. In April, the 28-year-old was knocked out by Hugo Centeno Jr. During the same gala, WBC World Champion Jermell Charlo will also fight with Tony Harrison and boxing heavyweight Dominik Breazeale will face Carlos Negron.

    Hes better than munroe so could be a closer fight.

    Wow, now that's a fight, even if Korobov well past his prime and has achieved nothing is the pro game, he was one of the best amateurs ever and have bad luck vs Andy Lee

    Last Korobov's fight was at light-heavyweight, wasn't it? And now he will be fighting for a middleweight interim title on a short notice?
    I think I know how it will go...

    Korobov has fought once in the last two years, and has only fought four times, all against bums, since being stopped by Andy Lee four years ago.

    Yeah he hasn't been able to get fights. He's getting another opportunity finally but on very short notice and at 35 years old. He'll have to make the most if it but his chances aren't very good.

    I don't understand how Matvey can make 160 on short notice.

    Korobov had great potential at one time, but Top Rank ruined him with years of inactivity, meaningless opposition and very poor pay.

    Can I quote you on this following the fight?

    And how does Korobov get down to 160 when he hasn't fought MW since 2014? Currently, he is listed as a LHW. This doesn't look good.
