I would pick him to beat everyone on this list . Even Arguello at 140. But it’s a list of the 80s so it doesn’t matter

Costello is dead? What a shame. Another person who died too young. As for boxing. The feeling I had at the time was Costello was washed up and was a bit overrated on his loss to Lonnie who was not very good. Lonnie Smith did not have many fights either. Costello did ok with Arguello I seem to recall but was with what else an Arguello right hand. But Smith never impressed me much. He lost to Arredondo (spelling) and then did not look great after that. Gave Chavez and interesting fight I remember. Better than I thought he would. He had fast hands. Both Costello and Arguello are dead. Who would have thought. That is a shame..

Costello died of cancer. A good, honorable man. An average fighter and champion but a good man. Maybe see him on the other side.

I had no idea Costello died. I knew Arguello died. I just looked it up.. Yes you are right he died of cancer. Lung cancer in 2011 and fought until 1999 I am reading here. I didn't know he was active that long. I would assumed he retired about 1990. Rest in peace to him. I was shocked when Hector Camacho died in 2012. That is still hard to believe. He was such an alive person in spirit.

Costello became a very good judge for New York state. Seeing the stars in sports R&R movies etc grow old and die I guess makes us all think of each's own mortality.

Well I think I saw him judging fights and I didn't connect the name with Bill Costello. I think I saw him judge some fights. Boy I feel brilliant tonight.

It is true about life. Mortality is a scary thing.. Well, one of my best friends who was 10 years older than me whom I met in the early 1980s, probably the best friend I ever had died in his sleep some years back. It affected me a lot. It still does and it has been over a decade. He was a good person. Honest and real. One of those type of friends you talk to more than you can to your family, which I never could really talk well to my family. It is one of those things you want to talk to them again but it never happens. As much as you wish for it. I still talk to his kids and wife and wish them good new year and all that. Life is unpredictable that is for sure. We just don't know what our bodies have in store for us. I don't like going to the Doctor. I always feel something is going to come up.

Taylor should be above Roger Mayweather, and I liked Roger.

The win over McGirt is better than any win Roger had at 140.

And of course, Taylor all but heat Chavez.

What about Roger v Taylor head to head though? Could Taylor beat anyone with a solid punch who was quite savvy also? Taylor made defensive mistakes like Khan and didn`t have chin that could take solid shots, was Roger a slightly harder puncher than Chavez?

Bruce Curry should replace Ronnie Shields at 12. He best Ronnie, won a title and defended a few times. Ronnie lost all his big fights except won a decision over a fading Mamby.

Taylor`s defense was awful in that fight also though.
