Camacho lived in the fast lane, but Arguello committing suicide was more of a shock I feel.

    That's true.

I think I'd still put Meldrick above Roger based on the domination of McGirt.

Roger almost lost to Harold Brazier.

I was very happy when Roger beat Pazienza though. It's always nice when an underrated guy beats an overrated, overhyped guy.

I think he would have outworked Mayweather for a UD.

His chin was way better than Khan's.

    Lonnie Smith ruined Costello.

Arguellos win over Costello would have much greater significance if it happened when Costello was champ.

Some fighters are ruined by one fight.

Oh yes his chin was better than Khan`s, I was saying there was a similarity, Khan couldn`t have taken the shots Taylor took from Chavez and was only stopped above light welter until his rematch v Chavez when he was very shopworn and eating tons of shots.

Agree on Taylor. Mayweather's Pendleton loss was at 140 too.

Lonnie Smith was an enigma. He never showed his full potential because of management disputes . The Ring said after his title win against Costello he was so poorly paid that the next day he returned to his job at a supermarket.

Yes, that promotion lost a lot of money. Benitez/Moley was on the undercard and I remember reading that Wilfred was waiting to get paid.

It was on TV via syndication so they got TV rights $ but I think they drew much fewer people to Madison Square Garden than expected. They probably had to pay Costello a big purse as he had been getting big $ from Don King and CBS.

I believe the promoter was Tiffany Productions if memory serves me.

That was an awesome performance by Smith. He showed awesome speed and power to overwhelm Costello in a huge upset.

He should have been able to box circles around Renee Arrendondo but underperformed badly in that fight.

They both were shocking. I remember the picture of Duran at Arguello's casket. It was sad.
