Arguably it was a bit early. Regardless Kos needs to get back to utilizing his wrestling skills. He's not Anderson Silva (not that anyone is)
Thiago helped the referee's decision to stop it by NOT jumping on him. If he jumped and tried to finish him, Kos may have locked him up and survived...or not.
Exhibit A: Kos go back to using standup when you HAVE to, but taking people down and controlling them....GNP the **** out of people. You don't have to be boring when you do it. Matt Hughes never looked boring elbowing peoples heads through the mat...GSP isn't boring taking people down and making them look like his prom date as he does as he pleases with them on the ground.
I think it was an early stoppage. Since when do knock downs in MMA count as KOs? Thiago could have at least landed one more shot on Kos. It's not like Kos had stopped moving, and Kos was winning every second of the fight until then.
maybe the ref should have landed on more punch while kos was down. but im really not complaining about the stoppage. there are much worse stoppages then this
Great stoppage Koscheck had nothing to defend himself with he was slowly bringing up his right arm I believe it was and it was out wide and his guard was wide open with his eyes rolled back one more shot he wouldve went to sleep. IMO he went to sleep with the uppercut but the head smacking of the mat woke him up its a wonder he doesnt have a concussion.
Rogan and company also needs to stop hyping up stand up games like yelling "Wow look at Kos stand up its excellent"! Its not and Koscheck believes it. He really believes his looping right hand is true skill. Now I dont know if anyone heard or read before the fight that Thiago was an amateur boxer. It was listed as one of his strengths. Yet while commentating, Rogan and Goldberg seems to criticise Thiagos boxing while praising Koschecks striking. Im like thinking, if This Thiago had some amateur background and its not a lie, he'll catch Koscheck. And lo and behold a beautiful textbook uppercut.
I'm with ya. I felt the same way....I just knew Thiago was lining him up for something. He was studying.
Its funny Thiagos corner was very calm as was Thiago himself. He was probably hoping that Koscheck stands up, and youre right, Thiago was looking for an opening while Koscheck was wild..very wild with that right. That uppercut left hook combo was picture perfect, I mean watch the gif, Kos basically offered his chin (jabbing with head down) and when he got hit watch Thiagos reaction (not in gif), it was like "thank you! Game over!"
