winfella you misinterpreted my post pal: I meant that if Ellenberger bets Diego tomorrow night he'll probably (and rightfully) get the next title shot and give GSP more time to rehab. Thread title updated!!!! Thoughts?
I think being very flat footed and boiling down to 170 finally caught up with Fitch personally. Doubt Kos will make the same mistake and get caught by a haymaker in 10 seconds
Good point. I think GSP beat something out of him that night and he's been losing half a step in each fight ever since tbh.
Aaaah ok mate Yes agree'd i see Ellenberger beating Diego , if / when he does , i think Condit (under the instruction of camp J and team Condit) would refuse such a fight (Ellenberger) and hang around for George , providing thats not gonna be too much longer , the Ellenberger / Diego winner seems almost perfect timing for Koscheck / Hendricks winner He would probably command a co main status (Ellenberger) in such a fight , specially if Koscheck gets flattened by Hendricks , as it will be the top 2 WW's outside of GSP , Condit and Diaz (in terms of momentum) fighting each other on the promise of a title shot , therefore probably a career high purse for both men
Oh dear atsch Not every main event can be for a title shot starring 2 superstars of the sport can it ??? , remember back to the Velasquez dos Santos card and you'll find that it was probably only the main event that held any significance towards the upper echelon of the sport , it was a shocking card with a super fight as a main event , in fact it was only really Pablo Garza worth tuning in for on the undercard that night and he lost How do you counter that ??? , with a well balanced card , which this card is :deal , infact id say one more fight added to the top order similar to the other 3 and it could be seen as a " stacked " card
Koscheck has decent TDD and good power but I think his defence is iffy, he doesn't use his wrestling, his boxing skills are average.... If you can watch for his big right hand, especially cross and uppercut then you've almost neutralised his game.
as much as hendricks last fight was a nice win for him i dont think it can become a template for future fights its that kinda thing that can happen in any fights
Agreed. It was one great left hand. Usually fights are a series of chess moves and eventually you lose to one of those moves. Vs Fitch, it was the equivilent of check mate in 1 or 2 moves.
Anyone who is arguing that this card isn't weak is crazy. I mean it should be great action ways (although Kos-Hendricks could be boring) but Nate-Miller wouldn't have been fancied to get much more than a 1.0 on Spike last year. And the UFC knows given that their original choice was Velasquez-Mir but the beginning of May was just a tad too early.
Diaz vs Miller , a fight featuring 2 top contenders , Diaz an attacking boxer with excellent attacking JJ skills , always looks to attack / finish fights , in fact these days he's almost a clone of Nick , i agree i dont like Millers style but he's technically very very capable and is very game , gonna be a thriller , and would be a co main on another card Belcher vs Palhares , once again two top contenders , Belcher was seen as the up and coming threat to Anderson Silva before his eye injury and Palhares is well ............... Palhares , Belcher's come back is big news (this will be the 2nd fight in his comeback against a very relevant opponent) and Palhares has momentum Koscheck vs Hendricks , once again 2 top contenders (see the pattern here) , if this fight ignites early then it could be fireworks , if not , and i fear it wont , then it could be a snooze fest , but a very strong fight on paper One more like the above , and its a very strong card , if not , then its a decent card , not great , but not week
Diaz vs Miller is an early stage eliminator Koscheck vs Hendricks is an early stage eliminator Even Belcher vs Palhares could be an early stage eliminator. Barry vs Johnson is awesome. No special names but alot of good contenders in meaningful fights. Alot of all action fights too.
The fourth fat is Barry vs Johnson. There are no more main card fights to be announced. I perfectly understand what you're saying and I've already said that I agree its a good action card. But marquee wise this would not past muster for a Spike European Special.
