He was in the top 5 p4p rankings for a long time. Vince Phillips beat him in his US debut. Sure I think he got better, but his resume was against B-level opposition. I never understood all the hype about him when he was champ. I knew he wasn't that good, but most of ESB acted like he was the 2nd coming.

    Where do I start?????

Lets see.. by every boxer himself he is acknowledged and respected as one fo the greatest amateur ever and by non biased fighters like Roy Jones, Chris Byrd, Floyd Mayweather he is respected as a great and one of greatest jr. welters of all time.

    Ill just stop right there.

Again, it doesn't matter if you're a troll or a moron. It's all the same on this one. It wouldn't be if there were a good point to the thread, though. That's when it matters.

    Stupid thread.
    Learn boxing.
    Watch Kostya, amatuer and pro.
    Come back to this forum.
Write a lovely long letter of apology.

It's funny. I have been here a long time. I have seen all kinds of posts. But the single fastest way for anyone to lose whatever credibility they have is for those few, poor fools who say "Kostya wasn't that good".

There is a reason why the whole boxing world, every expert, thought of Kostya as being great. Think long and hard about this fact; if you can't see why, then Occam's Razor suggests that your vision is lacking.

I guess everybody in the HOF is a hypejob then. RJJ was never any good. He lost his debut in Russia. LOL

Even boxing writers that seemingly have an intrinsic problem with all Eastern European and Soviet boxers respected/thought highly of Kostya.

And that's pretty much all we need to know about you, you can safely be ignored in everything else you say from now til the end of time.

KT could have taken the title in his pro debut.

he just never proved it....fighting guys like sharmba mitchell 2 times and jesse james leija , and somehow missed fighting any other great or top 140 pound guy besides Judah, who is his biggest win. overrated big time...but very good fighter...

He had a better straight right than Pacquiao's straight left. He wasn't a flashy fighter. He patiently measured his opponents out and simply blasted them out of there sooner or later.

He won 11 straight title fights before losing to Hatton and retiring. What more were you looking for?

good fighter. Actually been a a fan of his before as he used to carry that little Mike Tyson stigma.. But i agree that he is quite over rated..

look...im not bashing the guy...but maybe tell us why he is so great, besides a "11 straight title wins" blanket statement....

felix sturm has more than that, he isnt great....

he fought alot of crap...thats why names arent listed...chavez was pathetic and shouldnt have been made, sharmba mitchell 2 times, james leija who got his shot because he quit against micky ward when he had a cut and gambled on scorecards...ottkay urrkal? ahmed santos? title fights? corey johnson? bergman? the great leonardo mas
roger mayweather was shot and had 11 losses
hurtado was a good win over a good fighter but greatness?
MA Gonzalez was already starting his down fall, winning onl 2 of 4 coming in

i fail to see what makes him so larger than life....... abilty and skill YES..opponents? NO . you simply cant argue his title reign was anything but average at best....no one remembers one fight of tszyus except judah, phillips, chavez, hatton...and die hards.... hurtado....
