Undisputed World Champion and world amateur champion, one of the hardest hitting and technically sound fighters that ever lived, never ducked anybody, other fighters ducked him.

The guy was a ring master, beautifully technical fighter and a gentleman in the square circle

That said I think us Aussies overrate him a tiny bit. Me included. BUT, that said again, I think he would have beaten Cotto and the like had he fought them when he should have.

maybe overrated but biggest hype job ehhh there have been much worse

how bout undefeated guys who get blown out and retire or fade to nothing

Michael Grant was a bigger hype job

at least Kostya held and defended a title

Kostya wasnt a hype job at all.... if he had been American maybe.

Its hard to be a hype job with such an insane amateur career... hypejobs mostly come with a short am background and flashy wins over **** opposition

i wonder if Kosta would be so highly regarded as he is by some on this forum, had his name been John Smith. Honestly, his pro resume is good but nowhere near ATG status. Who gives a **** about potential and alleged skill if you don´t get the ATG type results - we´ve recently seen where that argument goes with the likes of Paul Williams and Chad Dawson. The proof has to be in the pudding not in some hypothetical appraisal of skill. His above average reign as a champ and the close attention that he got from mainstream media, does not mean we have to accept the type of hype we often hear here about his all time status. Resume, resume, resume, that is the only place you´ll find greatness.
