Kostya has one legitimate loss. I can't take the Hatton loss seriously because I watched the fight and what Hatton was doing would not fly anywhere outside of his own country. Not to mention the ref and the ibf weight in rules actively in favour of Hatton.
Kostya puts him to sleep. JMM can't hang with KT at 140, even if you give him the edge p4p. Honestly, I rate them about even. Everyone has an off night, and Vince Phillips is arguably a more dangerous opponent than Chris John. Kostya would have annihilated fighters like Diaz and Katsidis. I wish to hell KT would have gotten that fight with ODLH.
How can you just discredit the HATTON loss??? Tyszu was p4p at the time & QUIT! Marquez has never been stopped, doubt Kosta does it. 50/50 fight, Dinamita might get dropped, but hes CLEARLY the superior fighter, win a DECISION IMO
How can you discredit the Hattin loss? Tszyu had only fought 3 rounds in 2 1/2 years after a serious shoulder injury. He was 34 years old. He fought at 3 in the morning, in Hattons hometown, with Hattons dodgy referee. If you think that's anywhere near a peak Kostya, you're wrong. If you give JMM a pass for Chris John, you've got to give Kostya a gold plated, indisputable pass for that fight.
Norwood was an ironclad robbery. John was a non-event snoozefest. Neither fighter really did anything worth talking about, could have gone either way. If it had been in the states it's a JMM win. Either way, I don't see how either of those fights inform your opinion on a bout with Tszyu. :think
Tszyu was one of the best fighters I have ever seen in my lifetime, and in his prime at 140 he was an absolute monster: high ring IQ, sick punching power, the complete package.
KT was awesome at 140, but like Jmm he had cracks in his defense. Jmm that beat Pacman definitely knocks him out. Any other version KT too strong for Jmm and would impose his will. Ironically, 140 KT wins, 147 Jmm wins.
Very good intriguing matchup. My gut pick is Tszyu by knockout. The way Marquez loops his shots he has a habit of leaving himself open to getting buzzed. Diaz did it, Kats did it. Tszyu in his prime was a far greater puncher than either man, and a whole lot more dangerous. If Marquez got buzzed by Tszyu (a very real possibility), I have a very hard time seeing how even he gets off the hook. Tszyu was brutal against guys whom he had on rubber legs, and hardly ever wasted a shot. Love Marquez but I think he gets stopped here.
