The scores turned out pretty close especially in Germany i remember thinking at the time..... Problem is in time some people will even start tio say Green was robbed  given those tight scores and being in Germany.

But we all know Beyer won that fight.

i supported Green back then.but anyone who is objective knew who won.Green himself knew why do you think he sprinted out of his corner in the 12th and went for broke scoring a KD.the MD actually flattered him.

Beyer definitely won the rematch, but it was pretty weird to see such close scores in Germany of all places, given Beyer did beat Green so convincingly.

A Green - Mundine rematch does nothing for their careers except their hip pockets.

This article just shows that for a boxer to get some column space and self promotion, mention Mundine or Green and you're a lock. Kostya must know that to endorse his product.

In terms of the Daily Telegraph, mention Green and you'll get a full page.

A rematch would be of national significance, but certainly not international significance, and for Green it could obviously even the ledger with Mundine.

Yeah, it's about the folding stuff allright, but money is easier to buy things with in later life than reputation.

Higher honours have probably passed both by anyway. Green couldn't get Hopkins or Tarver contracted even after beating Roy, and Mundine has promised world dominance but hasn't delivered.

I've learned never to determine with finality, a close decision from a TV fight.
The reason being is that with TV you have the benifit of replays, Commentary on or off etc. but you're not hearing leather on skin or the noises of in-close contact & reaction.

On the night, I thought Beyer had won.
Several forums I visited (OS), I was surprised at the post-fight pre-decision differences, & the balance was about 60-40 in favour.

A long term mate emailed me & asked me to watch it again with the sound off & score it.
I did & was surprised to find it 1 point the difference in favour of Green.
I told him & he said "So did I".
Now this doesn't mean a damn thing in the scheme of things, but it just goes to show that what we see live is not necessarily what really happened, with the benifit of replays, or even with the sound off.

Actually asked Phil a question about this during our soon to be seen interview, and he agreed. My main problem with scoring off the tv is you're at the mercy of the director who is constantly changing the angle of view. An angle from the neutral corner may be nice at home but if fighter A is landing body shot on fighter B whose back is to the camera, theres no way you can judge the power or even if they landed. There can be many other variations of this problem throughout a telecast, even the switching of cameras can cause you to miss punches.

I turned the sound off and re-watch Mundine v Ottke and still came to the same conclusion :D

Your A/B point has long been a deal breaker when discussing decisions with judges.
"Mate, we're 6 feet away. We don't have to see everything, we can hear it"

    Solid point.

Did you take a matching pic of his clown boots to go with the story?

Good to see you take a break from penning your Homoerotic fantasies about Mark DeMori to interview a true superstar and legend of the sport. To be honest I can't believe he actually lowered himself to speak to you. He must have been ****ing bored!
Is it true that you tried to interview Billy Dib's on again/off again manager but no replies were intelligible due to him refusing to put down the kebab?

Any judge that goes off something he hears instead of sees land cleanly needs to be shot dead; either that or be forced to spend a weekend with Nathan Butler.... but the Civil Liberties mob would rule that one out
