I actually don't think he was green. He was young yes, but if you compare a young Tszyu to an older Tszyu, he was actually a more complete boxer in his early days than he became later. He devolved into more of a puncher in his later days than the skilled boxer/puncher he was early on. Not to mention he was one of the best amateurs of all time, which was the main reason for his instant success and skill set early on.

You cannot consider young Tszyu a green fighter, he had a phenomenal amateur background. At 15 fights he was in his prime.

What I find hillarious about all the Hatton fans and their arguments regarding this fight is this: For three months leading up to the fight Hatton and his camp and his fans were basing his chances on the reasoning that Tszyu would strugle with a fighter like Hatton because he's only fought 5 rounds in three years, is old, not the best infighter, and would not be able to fend off a fighter like him because he wouldn't have the stamina. In essence they could not have been more right (unless they had of said 'btw the ref is going to allow Ricky to hold arms and rabbit punch all night'). Now, post fight, they are all offended if you suggest there are reasons Tszyu lost that don't have to do with Hatton being better than Tszyu. It's funny how you just throw all you arguments away when they don't suit your nuthugging. :-( :deal

    What about Sahaprom?

Won his first world title in his 4th or 5th fight.

Came from Muay Thai, had no am boxing experience. These guys who mostly had long amatuer boxing careers would surely be better prepared coming into the pro ranks,

The thing is, Kostya was better early on in his career than he was in his so-called prime. He was one of the best amateurs of all time, and by the time he'd turned pro was already a very seasoned pugilist, one with a lot more depth to his game than he'd later demonstrate. The way I see it, he basically deteriorated from a skilled boxer-puncher to more of a pressuring power-puncher as his career progressed. He seemed to just fall in love with his power, similar to what a guy like Gerald McClellan was doing before meeting his tragic end. Another example of a fighter who showed better ability early on than in his supposed prime, though most still maintain that he'd have become an ATG (I disagree strongly).

Holyfield, De La Hoya? I suppose Holyfield was over 20 years ago though.

I think peak Tszyu beats peak Hatton definitely, but I do not think Tszyu was shot against Hatton. For me it was the same situation as Morales in Pac-Morales II, no-one was saying they were shot before the fight, they were favourite to win, and they fought well on the night, but were simply beaten by a new force.
