Kostya Tszyu and Joe Cortez vs. Ricky Hatton

Me too. Been a fan for a long time.

 

Tszyu is top 10 all time P4P.

 

The time did have an effect, but it was Kostya's fault.

Hatton chose to change his body-clock leading up to the fight by sleeping during the day and training at night.

Tszyu decided to keep his regular routine which meant he first had to adjust from Australian to UK time (about 8 hours difference), then adjust to the fight time on fight night with no late-night preparation.

 

I agree with those that say we shouldnt make excuses for Kostya, or deride Hattons win. At the end of the day Hatton made Tszyu look bad and that is a massive feat no matter what. I just note that that fight took place in very strange circumstances, so I wouldnt be confident that the same result would play out if the context was changed. Especially because by account of the rest of his career, Tszyu is in my oopinion a much better prime for prime fighter.

 

You must have been watching a different fight to the rest of the world then. The cards had it even when Tszyu quit on his stool.

 

The cards should of had it even or Hatton 1 round ahead. But the cards were, in fact, bull**** & Manuel Maritxalar was the only one doing his job:

Yup, the HBO cards had it even and any one who wasn't watching with one eye shut could see it was close.
