THought id make this thread. As this would be the more lively fight than A Mayweather -Tszyu.. I think Tszyu has a better shot here as Taylore is even faster than Mayweather but also there to be hit. .. DO you think Tszyu would stop the Meldrick? Or do you think Taylor overwhelms him with his flurries like he did Buddy Mcgirt whom he dominated and stopped late.

If Taylor can stick to boxing and not fighting, he can outpoint Tzyzu clearly, having a big hand and foot speed advantage over him, but if he gets into a war with Tzyzu, it spells trouble for him. Im going for Taylor by clear ud as it is.

This is another invitation to wishful thinking. This is not a close fight.

I think Taylor just consistently beats Tszyu to the punch and outworks him with flashy combos to a comfortable UD.

I see Meldrick taking a big lead early.. Up until around the 8th or 9 th round Taylor is just outlanding him 2,3 to 1 and marking Tszyu face up.... Tszyu scores a big right hand in the 7th and drops Taylor.. Taylor gets up and moves shaking it off but by the end of the round flurring back with KT.... Taylor continues to outland Tszyu but the rounds are closer and they split the mid rounds.. Taylor seems to have slowed down a little.. and now KT is matching him on punches landed but his are harder... Kt comes out for the 12th on fire and Taylor aint backing down, its an even round but Kt stuns him , Meldrick bravely fights back not showing that hes hurt although he was.

    Taylor wins a close decision 115-113 114-113 115-113.

Pretty much. But I'd not count a Kostya KO out of the realm of (decent) probability either.

Taylor was proven against a machine named Chavez. KT on the other hand beat Judah who is a poor man's version of Taylor in terms of speed and talent ( heart/mental toughness not comparable). I know styles make fights but I don't think KT would have made it to the 12th rd. versus a prime Chavez? So based on what I actually saw both guys do in the ring I would have to pick Taylor by mid rd. tko.

Tszyu by mid round KO. Meldrick Talylor was not in Tszyu's class. Tszyu who hit harder than Chavez would have put a serious beating on him. He is overhyped by Chavez fans. Every time he stepped up he got knocked out. Even by boxers like Hasal Al, Quirino Garcia, Maciunski etc.

Yes he was, Tzyzu was in no way a class above Taylor. This is as big a 50/50 fight as you can get, and id give a slight edge to Taylor in it.

Tszyu was a dominant champ for nearly a decade. Taylor picked up straps at two weights and quickly lost them. Every time he stepped up he got beat up and stopped: Chavez X2, Espana, Norris and several genuine C level boxers as well.

 Yeah Meldrick was great. That's why the IBHOF haven't even put him on the inductees list 5 years after he became eligible. His greatest achievement was getting knocked out twice by JCC.

Not that he wasn't a very good fighter because he was.

Taylor was past his prime when he lost to Espana, Chavez in the second fight and the Norris fight was up at light-Middleweight against one of the greatest 154 pounder of all time. And he was very unlucky in his loss to Chavez, that is one of the most controversial stoppages ever. Tzyzu had the better championship legacy yes, but the quality of the boxer's Taylor was fighting was great. If you want to talk about losses, Tzyzu lost to Vince Philips, whos hardly a great fighter. In my view Tzyzu had the better legacy, but Taylor was more talented. It wasnt impossible to outbox Tzyzu, and Taylor had great boxing skill.
