Whitaker survived for 12 rounds against Chavez, Del La Hoya and Trinidad and was never stopped in his prime (I'm not counting his lose to Bojorquez) so he could obviously deal with punchers. I think some people are thinking of Tszyu's KO of Zab as a possible template for a match vs Whitaker but Pernell was a far greater boxer than Judah and would frankly puzzle and perplex Tszyu and win a wide UD.

tszyu has no chance. he always needed a range finder to zone in on his opponent.

    pernell hands down

Pea would box Kostya for a UD.
(No KD's no One gets stunned... Just a clear Pts victory)

Pea is better, but Kostya is being under rated here.

Pea looks fantastic for six rounds, and then starts to get caught with shots. Pernell's chin keeps him in it and he eventually starts to fight fire with fire. A mad final few rounds sees Pea take a decision, something like 116-112.

Neither of these two is dominating the other, but Sweat Pea would be expected to take a clear win.

If that's how worthless Tszyu is, then any boxer who lost to him is worth ****.

what is also wrong with the sport is people like youand bailey who defend out of nationalism no matter what.

if something is true, you never need to play this game.

tszyu is a HOF fighter, no doubt, but dont try to build him up to levels he was never at by discrediting whittaker.

    it makes you look small

I think Kostya pulls the upset despite Whitaker being better P4P. He's got the exceptional timing and accuracy it'd take to track down and pierce Whitaker's defense, and enough pop that it'll discourage Pea from doing enough offensively to win.

Kostya's stylistic weakness is to swarmers who can take a punch, but put him against a speedy fighter, and he's a completely different animal. Styles make fights...Whitaker was good enough that he could overcome a stylistic disadvantage, but I like Tszyu for the upset here.

Before a dozen people immediatley dismiss this, I'll throw my hat in the ring and say I can see this happening. :good

Timing is a hell of an under-rated attribute, and Kostya had one of the best examples of timing that I have ever seen.
