Kostya Tszyu vs Sugar Shane Mosely

Kostya Tszyu's most significant fights (year by year). Those who reckon he didn't fight like he did in the amateurs obviously didn't see his early professional career. He was lightning quick, heavy handed & had insane head movement. He slowed down significantly as he aged but became a bit smarter in order to compensate for a reduction in physical skills.

Great career by an ATG fighter. Not bad for a bloke based in Australia for all of it. No US training camps. Would arrive two weeks before showtime & get it done except on one occasion. Sugar Shane in contrast travelled to Australia & fought once. Went 0 and 1.

 

Yep, the American bias is rearing its ugly head yet again. Kostya Tszyu’s name triggers a lot of haters into action around here.

Did you watch the clip? Do you really think that Forrest gives Tszyu any trouble in the professional game?

Tszyu made him look like a goose. He could fight Forrest 100 times at 140 and he’d beat him 100 times.

 

It would be a great fight. I got Sugar Shane based on speed and resilience. I think it more likely Shane hurts Kotya than Kostya hurts Shane.

I suggest that you go back and read my post and pay closer attention to what I replying to.

 

Both of Kostya's losses were to guys who manhandled and mugged him...................Shane's speed on the release (during his younger years) and mauling tactics as fights go on, he'd sap everything Kostya had and stop him late.

Also Shane didn't lose to guys who had a smaller frame than him, genetic cheat code, for example, Cotto, Floyd were a bit shorter but were more broad

How did you determine Mosley was stronger at 154? 32 of his 41 career KO's were at 135. As far as my question goes, it is not predicated on the fight happening at 154. It is predicated on your assumption that Tszyu beating Forrest in the amateurs somehow means Tszyu beats Mosley as a pro. A 27 year old ODH was a better fighter than Tszyu, regardless of weight. Does that mean Mosley can beat Tszyu? Nope! People tend to overlook the fact that SM skipped 140 to fight a prime ODH. Imagine if an undefeated Tim Tszyu skipped 160 to fight a 27 year old David Benavidez at 168 and won? I have a feeling that would have put a little smile on your face. That being said, it is a damn shame that a Mosley/Tszyu fight did not ever fight. But who knows, with all these exhibition fights, we may see them in the ring after all. LOL

What part of “prime Tszyu” did you struggle to understand?

 

Tszyu was 28 when he lost to Vince. That is literally in an athletes physical prime.
