The ref should have seen those fouls, they were very blatant. I'm not saying kov would have had the stamina to see the final rounds and win but at least give him the shot. At the end of the day these big fights are usually won by the home fighter. If those fights were in russia or anywhere else for that matter apart from the US, kov would have won the first fight and ward would have been warned for low blows and maybe a point taken. This is a fact not an opinion. But thats the way boxing is and now ward is some sort of demi god and kov is totally overrated. Thats boxing and thats the way its always been.
Illegal, yes. But Kovalev was bent so far over where else is the punch going to go? 3 final shots, 2 were legal, the third wasn't. Kova was already done. Should've been given a count though. That's my only issue.
The punch should go belt line or over not under and if it doesnt then its illegal, not a fight ender. Thats crazy. Then the fight is waved off!! Low blow = time to recover, it was right in front of the ref too. Judges last fight, ref this fight. There is no end to it.
Golota-Bowe was horrible, as was Gainer-Norwood (laughably incompetent referee). This content is protected It's been mentioned quite a bit that Kovalev look mentally defeated and was unlikely to win, and I won't disagree with that. But it's still speculation on what would have happened, and the ending is very unsatisfying. That last punch was without a doubt low. The two punches that preceded it may have been low also, I didn't see that clear angle of it like I did of the final shot. It's disappointing when you get a great matchup that turns into a very intriguing match and it ends like this. A lot were borderline, based on Weeks's pre-fight instructions. The last low blow was definitely low when they showed the one great angle and played it in super slow-mo. That camera angle only showed the last shot, not the previous two, so I won't comment on whether or not they were low or borderline or whatever.
Boxing is a sport, there are rules.....................if one fighter obeys the rules then the other fighter should also, it should not be the one who pays the judges, referee, and boxing commission. Way too many bad decisions in Vegas.................... I have been hit low with a very expensive cup, it hurts, but when the punch comes up it moves the cup up and hurts like hell. Anyone who claims that they do not hurt has never fought at all................there is a cup for a reason, low blows still hurt, but it helps to have a cup, but again, when the punch comes up it pushes the cup up as well...................that's why the rules are there..................if that fight had been in Russia, or in some neutral territory Kovalev would have won.........
After he ate that right hand how many punches did he throw back? Ill answer for you 2. The dude got his knot box rocked, wasn't throwing back and was doubled over not protecting himself. What do you do if you're a ref? Give him a standing 8? Well that wasn't an option in the fight. Do you give him a break because he's the great Krusher? Nah you can either call a KD from the ropes holding him up, or stop it.
As a Kov fan I have no problem with Wards win. Kovalev should stop being a Puff and so should the fans. My hands are massive.
