Ward was the best thing to happen to Kovalev from a mental stand point: it taught him the importance of living the life and not counting on your talent or reputation to bail you out; he saw Jackson for who he really was as you stated; he probably realised his manager and promoter are ripping him off; last but more importantly Kovalev will solidify he’s legacy from what he does here. He is already a HOFer for me but if he beats Beterbiev, Gvozdyk and or Bivol then that would make him one of the best LHWs we have seen for quite a while.
