I guess we see it differently then. I see Kovalev as a man with his back to the wall and doing the best he could. He nearly ruined Canelo's cherrypick. That's not lying down.

Yeah, I agree. He really managed to set the scene on how it feels to be subjugated by another man and so forth. It's almost like he was there holding the camera while the railing was going on ;)

Kovalev could have taken the first offer, given up his titles, and have zero excuses for his loss.

Getting paid well and then saying he was not in shape is not right. I see why he did it. 12 million? That is good amount. But if you are going to do that, just accept the money and don't say you were not in shape. You made a choice.

The scheming from Canelo and his promotional team is getting ridiculous. I can picture them all seated around a giant table in some underground lair below the MGM grand like Dr. Evil conjuring up sinister plots to take down ageing, washed up and overtrained fighters and propagandize it for the casuals and fanboys. only thing missing from Golden Boy's plan is boxing judges with frikkin laser beams attached to their heads.

You know the real ignoramus, Kovalev? You, tipping your hand like this when you could have left everyone thinking you had actually tried, and thus leaving the door open to a couple more paydays in the future.

Good luck convincing anyone to bother tuning in again, now.

they don't. either canelo and golden boy get most of the blame, it's reasoned that Kova actually did try but was 1. operating under inadequate conditions and/or 2. just came up short against the better man, or for those who genuinely are resentful in believing he didn't try/sold out for a payday, they'll get all up in arms for a short while only to come right back to the fore when enough hype or intrigue's been built up. ppl are fickle like that. a lot of us will end up watching his next fight to see what he has left and whether or not he can redeem himself. he's not yet at that point in his career where we can write him off completely.

i used to be a big krusher fan, picked him to beat ward, but i saw quit in him in the second ward fight, and that bothered me a bit. then i saw how everything was always someone elses fault with him, doesnt like to take personal responsibility for anything. so im not really a fan now, but i can see what he can still do.

This is what I meant about Canelo taking calculated risks. Kovalev was in no condition to take the bout so soon after fighting Yarde, and what he said about the 2 training camps only makes things that much worse. I think most of us were aware of the fact that Canelo and his team knew what they were doing, when they set the match for earlier this month. Kovalev needed a layoff.

of course its a calculated risk. outside of his division, where he doesnt have that luxury, he is entitled to any calculation he wants. theres lots of posters that think bjs would give canelo all kinds of problems... as im writing this. even after seeing his last performance. yet this dude went up 2 division and stomped the longest reigning 175lb title holder, and he gets torn apart for it.
