Nah, it's been 3 days, Kovalev was going to lose no matter what and people were going to complain no matter what. Of course not. Because you saw what was plain. That Kovalev was in terrible, terrible shape. He had just backed himself into the ring post and had his hands low. And there was another 30 odd seconds in the round. Andre looked all energized, singing for the fences.

And Kovalev's gas tank was empty. He threw way too many punches in the first 8 rounds, many more than in the first fight. All of the commentators picked up Kovalev looking fatigued.

This would not turn out well for Kovalev and you know this with a high degree of certainty. You don't have to pretend that it was a 50/50 fight at the point of the stoppage. Because it wasn't.

 

Educated guess? Of course Kovalev was tired, but so was Ward, and the low blows made it worse. Kovalev would have finished the fight and it would have gotten to the cards, I feel Kovalev could have won at least 2 rounds after the 8.

 

Ward demanded the set amount for the 2nd fight to go ahead. He's the one who ripped of Kovalev, not Duva. If Ward says I won't fight for less than 6million, and that leaves nothing for Kov's team how on earths it their fault he got screwed out of a purse?

This was not a purse fight where they split any money. Roc Nation guaranteed Ward 6 mil plus PPV cut. Kovalev's team guaranteed him nothing but PPV cut and he is no PPV seller type of guy, he is all fighter no flash so Duva ****ed him not Ward.

He was down 67-66 on two cards. He lost round 8. This was also very likely a 10-8 round. Even if it wasn't, he'd be down 2 points going into the 9th. That means he needs to win 3 of the last 4 rounds to get a DRAW.

In the state he was in? Highly, highly unlikely that he would even get a draw.
